SOUTH TAKES SECOND BY 1

  In an extremely close battle for second place in the Central Suburban League South division, the Glenbrook South girls varsity track team edged out Maine South 109-108 to take those 2nd place honors. New Trier ran away with the team title with 206 points. Glenbrook South had three individual winners, the most in years for the Titans. South's 4x800 meter relay team picked up a victory in a time of 9:44.3. Junior Emily Anderson, who was a part of that 4x800, won the individual conference title in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:20.2. The other Titan victory came in the pole vault where senior Sarah Zigman won by jumping 9-0.
South A Solid Third At Titan Invite

  At Monday's re-scheduled John Davis Titan Invitational, the Glenbrook South Titans finished in third place with 89 points. Fremd won the 9 team field with 121 while Loyola was in second place with 109. South had two event winners in the 4x800 meter relay and the Pole Vault. Senior Sarah Zigman matched her outdoor personal best, jumping 10-6. South's 4x800 finished in 9:56.20. The Titan freshman compete at their conference meet this Wednesday, while JV competes in a dual meet with Loyola on Thursday and the varsity travels to New Trier for an invite on Saturday.
Emily Anderson A Solid Fifth

  At this past Satuday's Illinois Prep Top Times meet, Emily Anderson finished 5th in the 800m run to be the only GBS athlete to make it to the finals at the meet. Tori Scala scratched in the Long Jump. Anderson ran a time of 2:18.9, one tenth of a second behind the 4th place competitor. Katie Nelson of Normal won the event with a time of 2:17.7. Anderson and Glenbrook South are back in action on Tuesday, April 5th against Maine South, Niles North and Regina as the outdoor season begins.
