After being involved in the Model A hobby for over five years, I figured it was about time that I got an "A" for myself. I am the Youth Coordinator for the Model A Restorer's Club (MARC) and am charged with bringing more younger members into the club. So I figured that it would be a good thing for me in my position to have a Model A. I thought over the dozens of style's of "A's" and figured that I'd be most happy with a 1930-31 Closed Cab Pickup truck. So an ad was placed on MARC's website looking for a truck. Two weeks later I recieved a phone call from Dave Hartman of IL who said he had late '31 Truck parts, the rest they say, is history. |

My Truck on Day 1, June 20th 2002 |
Here is my truck, the day I brought it home, June 27th 2003. A year and a week since I had bought the first parts. |
A week or so into May as I write this and the weather is starting to cooperate more and more each day. I've had a few chances to take the truck out these past few weeks and have really been enjoying it all. We were picked to work on the set of the filming of Public Enemies, staring Johnny Depp and Christian Bale, directed by Michael Mann. I have some pictures that I have uploaded here I ended up blowing yet another head gasket, this time it was between the 3 and 4 cylinders so I was only ever running on two cylinders, got that taken care of and a new head thrown on. With a new work schedule it's looking I'll have a lot of chances to get out there and drive this year and I'm looking forward to that. Only 400 miles in 2007, not good enough for me. For some reason the people of the Joliet Region of MARC elected me President again, so check out our webpage!!! And if you're bored and want to see my other hobby, collecting license plates, you can click here |

It dawned on me that a lot of people have no idea how cool the bed of my truck looks, so I figured I'd post an overhead shot of it. I was up helping my dad fix a skylight on the house and went back down to grab my camera. He helped me cut the wood for the bed, I put a few coats of varnish on them and then finished it up with stainless steel skid strips, bolts and center pan. |
