August 14, 2002 Here is the Naboo Fighter Pilot uniform. Since I tok these pictures, I received a pair of vintage gloves I had won on ebay. They are perfect. The boots I found at a second-hand store for $10. The belt is a curved Italian leather belt I found on super close-out at Marshall's. The pouch is a wallet also from Marshalls. The buckle is a strange thing I found at Vouge fabrics that I altered slightly and painted with gold craft paint. It is not exact, but it does the job. I also did Quincy's hair when she wore this on the Royal Court at the MotF costume event at DragonCon 2002. I split it into 6 pon tails and divided each ponytail into 4 parts. I secured each part with a small clear hair band. Then I wrapped each band in a 1 1/2 inch long piece of 1/2" wide wired silver ribbon. I secured each piece with a strip of clear cellophanr tape. I am looking for any pictures of her hair from the back. I was in such a hurry to get it done, I neglected to take any pictures. The helmet is a modified Don Post collectors edition helmet I won off ebay. I completely padded out the inside so it now fits on Quincy's head and is comfortable enough to wear. All of the other parts of the costume are made from scratch with fabrics from Vogue in Evanston. |
BATTLE ON GEONOSIS COSTUME This is my version of the costume Padme will be wearing during the battle scene in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. Quincy is using her Hasbro Star Wars Episode I Queen Amidala Super Soaker blaster. Other than that, the white top and bottom are made of a jersey fabric and the cape is made of a heavily textured knit fabric. The shin guards, belt, holster and pouches are made of a bone-colored leather. The armbands are made of aluminum flashing left-over from a gargage repair project a few years back. I did find Quincy some much more suitable shoes for this costume. |

Formerly a Queen, now a Senator, Padme Amidala remains within the political limelight of the Galactic Republic. Quincy Newkirk models one of Senator Padme Amidala’s numerous outfits from Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. This ensemble is referred to as the “Thousand Moons Young Matrons Dress.” Eastern European and Byzantine influences inspired the original costume design for the movie. This costume features two interchangeable headpieces and an optional cloak. All of the patterns on the dress are hand-painted. Padme dons this frock to disguise herself as a refugee as she and Anakin Skywalker flee Coruscant after a second attempt is made on the Senators life. Who would have guessed this plucky politician continues to be such a master of disguise? |
