WHAT IS SAILOR MOON?
To some it's just the stupid television show too many people have fallen head-over-heals for. To others...a childish synopsis of cartoonery at it's worst. But to us - the moonies of the world - it is more...much, much more.
A source of hope, a world of magic. When the reality of our little world hits us hard we escape into the mystical, comical, and lovable world of Sailor Moon.
Each character has their own personality that different people relate to. Maybe I love Venus because she is always happy, maybe because she is cooler than cool, maybe because I am secretly a ditz, maybe because she is everything I have always wanted to be. No matter the reason we each can find a character that appeals to our specific personality.
Sailor Moon herself the princess of the moon, with a delicate aura of wonder and elegance Sailor Venus - the senshi with the power of love; sweet, sensitive, and ditzy Sailor Jupiter- with the power of thunder she is strong and outgoing Sailor Mars - the fire senshi; Shinto priestess, unique, and special Sailor Mercury - the brains of the bunch with the power of water Tuxedo Mask Romantic hero and lost love of Sailor Moon Sailor Pluto The mysterious guardian of the gate of time Sailor Saturn The ironically dark, yet adorable, senshi of death Sailor Neptune Exotic wonder of the sea Sailor Uranus Tomboy with zest and the power of wind Chibi-Chibi The senshi too cute for words; the light of hope Chibi-Usa Sweet, cute, and pink. There are many characters..each with a special meaning to each individual.
Romance - like nobody has ever seen before. How does a love story between two galactic cartoons draw in so many heart struck viewers? Yet week after week, episode after episode we find our eyes riveted to the television. The homework, chores, and piles of stuff to do waits. This is our time.
Some shake their heads in disgust - how can grown teens and adults be so obsessed with an imaginary world. They don't see what Sailor Moon really is. To us it is real.
The plot is long and complex...with new adventures, twists, and turns waiting behind every corner. There is so much to learn, to love, and to dream about!
I too started as a doubter. One who mocked the powers of the moon. Now I know...I have seen the light. It's hard to explain, but you moonies out there understand. There is just a force, more powerful that ourselves, that gathers the special people of the world to become enthralled in the wonders of Sailor Moon.
We are each our own senshi, living in a land beyond any of these earthling's imagination. Together we will unite and see the wonders of the world. Those who laugh at us will never understand just what exactly they are missing.
So tonight when you curl up on your couch to watch your favorite episode of Sailor Moon, sit down to a fun filled night of glimpsing at other's insightful web pages, or stay up late reading your Sailor Moon manga think....and wonder...
