12/31/99 New years eve of 1999 I finished disassembly and stored all parts I won't need for a while at a friends. The only thing left now is the windshield. |
1/6/00 My friend was over watching me struggle with the windshield. The glue was old and almost impossible to remove. We both agreed that a sledge hammer would be easier and a lot more fun. The windshield was out in 15 minutes. There was a lot of glass to clean up but it was worth it. What next? I will be cleaning up the little surface rust on the floor boards and priming those spots. I will then start reassemble of the front end, and rebuilding of the motor. More pics will be added either linked from here or on the disassembly pics page. |

1/16/00 I worked on the windshield today, lots of glass left in the crevises. pics comming. I had a friend who knows body work come over for some tips. He says that sandblasting cant have water hit it. The water settles in the pores. I will sandblast the floors and treat them with a chemical he told me about. The paint stripper leaves a smooth metal that can be pressure washed. I need to use a MUD HOG to remove the bondo that is there. He says that the work you do is only as good as the other persons work. We discovered a fun and easy way to remove the windshield. |

1/22/00 I used chemicals today. Like I said before I was too far ahead of myself. I settled down and removed the rust from the passenger side rear floor board. I used metal etch and then primed it. The parts store sold me the stuff that should be used in a sprayer. My body guy said that they should have sold me the spray can. It is easier to use the spray can so you dont have to clean your gun. I just drenched a rag and cleaned it. 1 section done. I am learning on the non seeable stuff. He is comming over tomorrow to guide me more. I will do 1 section at a time and soon I will have the hulk worthy of rebuilding. |

2/06/00 I have the car sanded and blasted ie. the front part. I finished the floor boards and cleaned and primered under the dash. This is very hard for me considering I know little about body work. As I promissed before there will be more pics soon. |

2/18/00 I Have to make a choice? Replace the trunk pan or bondo the little holes. I can use fiberglass reinforced bondo or replace the trunk pan????? I will probably replace the pan!?.. |
