March  Appears as a model in NYC fashion show, at age 14
Feb.  Evan attends Red Raider football awards dinner. Coach Somick: "Evan Rodriguez is an amazing athlete who can do anything. He can run, throw, catch, and scored about 12 TDs this year." 
March  Scores winning basket in Horace Mann's 38-36 in North Bergen Grammar School League Championship game vs. Anna L. Klein , his first city title in basketball - North Bergen Reporter: "Mayor Sacco said that he was amazed when Rodriguez made a steal and then dunked the ball - and he's only 14 years old."  Sacco: "I'll tell you what, when that kid did that, I stood and applauded. It was amazing."
June  GRADUATES 8th Grade from Horace Mann School
July  In his 5th summer at Camp Cedar, leads the 15-and-Under hoops team to Camp Cedar Tournament title

Nov. 15  Bruins pummeled in playoff game by Hackensack HS 48-3 to finish season at 6-5
Nov. 21  Hudson Reporter's Jim Hague: "If there was any positive sign that came out of the game it was the play of freshman Evan Rodriguez, who was clearly the best player on the field for the Bruins...after making three consecutive plays he made two eye-popping plays...running down a pair of Hackensack ball carriers on consecutive plays totaling over 100 yards...that's beyong belief. Safe to say the kid has a very bright future."
Dec.  Begins first High School basketball season and visits Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass with his teammates
Dec. 12  In his first ever HS basketball game, Evan scores 20 points in a loss vs. Hoboken

Coach Barone: "He's the next big-time player for us...we're going to bring him off the bench to start the year because we we wanted to bring him along slowly. But he's talented. Aug. 10  Makes his first and last speech at Camp Cedar Chapel, thanking the Hackers and his bunkmates for 6 great years together in Casco, Maine
Sept. 19  Hudson Reporter's Jim Hague: "Sophomore Evan Rodriguez (6'3" 195) is an eye-popping talent on both sides of the ball. Sept. 17  Evan's sophomore football season begins (he starts at safety/running back) with a win at Memorial HS, 32-6
Sept. 24  Game #2 and another win vs.Hudson Catholic (20-14)
Oct. 1  A 55-yard TD run vs. Emerson powers the Bruins to a 25-14 win, and a 3-0 record - Evan amasses 107 yeards on just 6 carries
Oct. 7  NB 55 Ferris HS 7 - Evan scores three TDs (4 on season), a 23-yard run,  a 81-yard second-half kickoff return, and a 25-yard run - adds an INT
Oct. 15  The Bruins run over Lincoln HS 38-8, with Evan scoring 2 more TDs (6 on season), a 2-yard plunge anda 76-yard second-half kickoff return
Oct. 22  In the season's biggest game, St. Peter's Prep (6-0) defeat the Bruins (5-0), 17-7
Oct. 29  Still reeling from their St. Peter's loss, the Bruins drop a 22-21 decison in Bayonne as Evan leaves the game in the first half with a hip injury
Nov. 6  NB trounces Snyder HS 59-0 with Evan scoring 2 TDs (8 on season) on runs of 53 and 33 yards - he adds his second INT of the season
Nov. 13  Jersey Journal's Mike Rowan:  "Evan Rodriguez is the big playmaker in the secondary and has made over 70 tackles."  Coach Ascolese: "He gets a great jump on the ball and has speed."
Nov. 14  The Bruins are no match for powerful Morristown HS as they lose 27-6 in the State Playoffs - Evan scores his 9th TD of the season with a 70-yard punt return in the first half 
Nov. 19-20  We visited Penn State University to watch the PSU/Lehigh hoops game and the PSU/Michigan State football game, where Evan is treated as a "prospect" and given the opportunity to go onto the field for pre-game warmups
Nov. 22  Evan is named to the ALL-HCIAA First Football Team Safety by area coaches
Nov. 26  Evan closes out his second HS football season vs. Hoboken HS with three INT and a rushing TD in their 26-14 win...and is now 38-10-1 in his last 5 football seasons
Dec. 7  Mother Frances, Evan and I attend the ALL-HCIAA Football Team dinner to honor Evan
Dec. 11  Evan's North Bergen hoops season begins with scrimmages vs. Atlantic City and Lakewood High Schools in AC
Dec. 17 The 2004-05 Hoops non-league schedule begins with an 89-78 win at Hoboken, Evan scores 18 points
Dec. 22  Evan and I go to see LeBron James and the Cavaliers lose to the NJ Nets 92-90 at the Continental Airlines Arena
Dec. 23  On the road in a driving rain storm just before Christmas, the Bruins blow a lead and lose 82-75 at Sayreville, Evan scores just 6 points
Dec. 28  At the James Kay Holiday Tournament ay Hackensack HS, the Bruins beat host Hackensack as Evan drops 19 points
Dec. 29  On Day Two, the Bruins rebound from a 30-14 deficit after one quarter to beat Passaic HS 79-70 - Evan is injured on a dunk but scores 13 and grabs 8 rebounds - he is quoted in the Bergen Record newspaper as saying, "We came out messed up." Team loses final the next day vs. Teaneck.
2005
Jan. 28  Bruins beat the Hillers of Union Hill to take over County lead.
Feb. 1  Trailing by 17 in the third quarter at St. Peter's Prep, Bruins rebound for last-second, 67-65 win. Evan scores 14, including a pair of treys, team 14-3.
Feb. 4  In front of largest home crowd of season, Senior Night, Bruins blow 22 point lead vs. Memorial and fail to lock up regular season league title.
Feb. 5  Evan, Frances, Louie and I attend Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament in Lyndhurst, NJ.
Feb. 20  Bruins lose half-time lead and fall in the County Playoffs to St. Peter's Prep.
Feb. 21  Evan receives invitations to football camps at Rutgers, Boston College, and Penn State.
Mar. 2  Evan scores 8 points as the STATE PLAYOFFS begin with NB's 65-51 win vs. Randolph.
Mar. 4  In a vintage performance, Evan scores 13 points, adds 12 rebounds and 7 assists, in NB's 92-82 win vs. Paterson Eastside.
Mar. 7  NB falls to Ridgewood 69-58 as Evan scores 14 points in this Group 4 Sectional Final game. He finishes with an 11.7 scoring average in 3 games.
April 14  The Bruins basketball team is honored with a special dinner (in North Bergen) for a fine season (19-7).
April 29  Evan and his football team celebrate their successful (7-4) football season with a special team dinner at La Fortuna in Fairview, NJ. Evan is awarded Outstanding Defensive Back by Linebacker Coach Ascolese
June 26-29  Evan attends Penn State University's football camp in State College, PA and is an immediate standout
August  Evan begins his third pre-season High School football camp as the team's new starting quarterback.
Sept. 17  Evan starts his first game at QBand leads NB to a 49-0 win over Memrial, including his 75 yard punt return
Sept. 24  Another week and another punt return, this one for 63 yards in NB's 37-7 win over Hudson Catholic
Sept. 30  Evan throws his first TD pass, 56 yards to Frankie Almanzar and rushed for an 8 yard TD (third total on season)
Oct. 7  NB stomps Ferris 47-6, Evan has a 65 yard punt return, a 68 yard TD pass, a 20 yard TD pass, and a 35 yard TD run
Oct. 15  Evan leads a huge rout, 68-6 over Lincoln, with 3 TD passes (6 on season)
Oct. 22  St. Peter's foils the perfect season as NB loses 12-0.
Oct. 28  NB rebounds with a 21-0 win over Bayonne, as Evan throws his 7th TD pass on the season, 15 yards to Chris Macias.
Nov. 4  NB piles it on vs. Snyder, winning 62-6 as Evan adds his 8th TD pass, and a 40 yard punt return (his 4th of the season)
Nov. 6  Evan is stabbed in the neck in West New York, NJ
Nov. 11  Just five days after the stabbing, Evan scores NB's 2 TDs in their 31-14 State Playoff loss to Vernon.
Nov. 25  In a disappointing end to his first season at QB, NB blows a 13-0 lead to lose at Hoboken, 14-13...they finish the season at 7-3.
Nov. 25  Evan ends the season with over 800 yards passing, 8 TD passes, over 400 yards rushing, 4 rushing TDs and 4 punt return TDs
Dec. 15  Evan is named Hudson County Defensive Player of the Year by the Coaches - makes Hudson County First Team Defense and Second Team Offense
Dec. 16  Hudson Reporter names Evan ot the All-Area First Team Defense and runner-up for Hudson County MVP
Dec. 16  Evan leads NB to an opening basketball game victory vs. Hoboken, 78-73 - he scores 8, and adds 10 assists, 7 rebounds, 4 steals

Dec. 20  In game #2, Evan drops 20 points on University Charter HS in NB's 88-67 win.

Jan. 3  In their 61-55 loss to Lincoln, Evan has 17 points and 7 rebounds...team is now 3-3.
Jan.6  NB beats Bayonne (the first of what will be three times), as Evan adds 16 points.
Jan. 10  In a showdown with Memorial, NB prevails 86-73, a modest 6 points and 8 assists for Evan.
Jan. 12  Evan makes his first public speech as he accepts the Hudson County Coaches' Defensive Player of the Year Award at the Landmark in Rutherford, NJ
Jan. 13  SPP gets smoked by NB, 75-46, as Evan scores 21, adds 8 assits and 4 blocks. The team is now 6-3.
Jan. 16  NB holds on to beat Snyder 58-46 as Evan dunks twice and scores 12 points.
Jan. 20  NB outlasts Dickinson for a 57-53 win, Evan gets 18 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists.
Jan. 23 and 25 Out with the flu, Evan misses games vs. Emerson and Hudson Catholic.
Jan. 27  Back on the court, Evan knocks down 20 points in NB's 82-67 win vs. Marist. The team is rolling towards first place at 10-4.
Jan. 30  Hackensack comes to NB and loses 88-74, with Evan adding 12 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists.
Jan. 31  Just 4 points for Evan in limited time as NB easily beats Ferris 70-41.
Feb. 3  It a bitterly fought game, Union Hill beats NB 88-85 with Evan scoring 21 points and handing out 5 assists.
Feb. 7  Another SPP beatdown as NB cruises to a 13-5 record with their 77-60 win - Evan does NOT play due to a 1-game suspension for argument with a coach.
Feb. 10  Memorial proves no match for the NB boys as the game is a lopsided 75-43 win, Evan gets 14 points.
Feb. 14  Round 2 with Bayonne, NB wins 63-52 with Evan getting his FIRST TRIPLE DOUBLE...14 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.
Feb. 15  A tough back-to-back game vs. Lincoln, but NB wins on the road, 50-49 as Evan dunks three times at gets a career high 26 points.
Feb. 15  NB finishes the regular season with 2 wins vs. Bayonne, but a game behind in the standings with their 16-5 record overall. Evan avg. 14.7 pts/8 rebs game.
Feb. 20  The County Playoffs begin and NB crushes Marist 68-44 - Evan gets just 6 points in limited minutes.
Feb. 23  Round Two vs. Union Hill and this time NB pulls it out, winning 64-61 in a rockin' NB gym, Evan scoring just 7 points because of foul trouble.
Feb. 25  A date the guys will never forget...NB 50 Bayonne 48  Hudson County Coviello CHAMPIONS! Evan is named game MVP with 12 points and 9 rebs, the first County Title for NB in boys' hoops since 1977!
Mar. 1  STATE PLAYOFFS begin and NB pulls a HUGE upset with their convincing 65-56 at Paterson Kennedy! Evan matches up vs. heavily-recruited Rashod Bishop and scores 14 points, grabs 11 rebounds, makes 7 steals and dishes out 4 assists. An amazing performance!' Overall, Evan now 3-1 in State Playoff games.
Mar. 3  In Round Three in the Battle vs. Union Hill, UH gets a put-back basket at the buzzer to beat NB 59-57. Evan scores just 6 points because of limited time due to foul trouble. The team ends the season 20-6. Evan winds up averaging 9 points in the two state playoff games. Two year state playoff record is 3-2, with now a career total of 55 points in 5 games for a 10.1 average.
Mar. 4  Coach Wilkens drives Evan up to UCONN for an unofficial visit - Evan is lukewarm to the campus.
Mar. 20  Tom Lemming and his crew snap Evan's picture at Paterson Catholic and promise to do an ionterview with him for Prep Football Report, his magazine.
Mar. 27  I picked up Evan and we went to the NJ DMV for his driving permit.
Mar. 27  Hudson Reporter names Evan as a member of their All-Area THIRD TEAM for basketball.
Apr. 1  Evan and I visit the University of Maryland and he is very impressed, with Coach Solazzo mentioning to us they are "real close" to offering a scolarship.
Apr. 1  Evan is named to the Jersey Journal Hudson County FIRST TEAM for basketball.
Apr. 2  Evan drives us both to Rutgers (and back) where we attend the Rivals.com Junior Day.
Apr. 2  Newark Star-Ledger names Evan to All-Hudson Coutny THIRD TEAM for basketball.
Apr. 3  RUTGERS UNIVERSITY offers Evan his FIRST full scholarship.
Apr. 5  Evan and his Bruins teammates celebrate their championship basketball season at a special dinner.
Apr. 10  Evan and I visit TEMPLE UNIVERSITY and following practice Head Coach Al Golden offers Evan his SECOND scholarship.
Apr. 11  Evan spends his first session at PARISI SPEED SCHOOL in preparation for the ELITE combine.

Sept. 14 The US Army offically nominates Evan for the the Nationally-televised All-America game.
Sept. 15 Evan scores three TDs (2 rushing, 63, 36 yrds, and fumble recovery TD) in 44-0 vs. Lincoln in his Senior Season home opener.

WEST VIRGINA OFFERS! After the first quarter vs. Lincoln, visiting WV Tight Ends Coach Herb Hand calls from sideline to say Evan is offered a full scholarship. It is his 4th official offer, and the most prestigious so far as WVU is 3-0 and ranked #5 Nationally.

Feb. 7 Evan OFFICIALLY SIGNS LOI to attend WEST VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY!
March 5 Bruins lose 86-85 in OT in the North I Group IV Sectional Finals, Evan scores 21 points and grabs 11 boards in his final High School game. His 4-year career record finishes at 66-33.
March 16 Evan named 2nd Team All-Coviello HCIAA in basketball.
