The opinion below makes sense to me

This opinion is "Against" Mandatory Auto Insurance

Have you ever wondered WHY there's a law on the books (at least out here in California), that makes operating a motor vehicle, without auto insurance, against the law?
Most of us probably agree that auto insurance is necessary. But I think we've been brainwashed over the last 5-10 yrs. to believe that all our insurance problems are a result of un-insured drivers.
The fact that un-insured drivers have cost the taxpayers of Calif. over 6 billion dollars, hasn't helped. But the reason they've cost us 6 billion is the result of our system, not because they were uninsured!
If the system was set up to have each insured driver dealing with his own insurance company---then who does and who does not have insurance would be a moot point.
I mean it wont take a rocket scientist to figure out that if my insurance covers me (regardless of fault),with *NO penalties for turning in a claim,--then why would I care if the other guy has insurance or not?
Seems to me this whole deal has been twisted around to suit the Insurance Industry's purposes. They'd have you think that the law requiring insurance had to be passed to protect the taxpayer from the uninsured motorist.
But the reality is,--if we could get rid of this system and put in a system that had insurance sold on an individual basis for the individual and his property ( Here's one ! Check out my proposal)--then the uninsured's problems would be his own.
You tell me the scenario where the uninsured will cost the other guy money and I'll explain to you what you seem to be missing!!
Automobile Insurance is a necessary evil in our society,-- BUT--as we all know--"Money Breeds Power, Power Breeds Corruption" and the Insurance Companies have a whole bunch of MONEY.
Their not gonna like my idea and (if it ever came to a ballot) they'd spend a whole lot of money to fight it.--- But hey, so long as you know what's right and stick with it, all the lies in the world wont change the truth!

Ever Been Ripped Off ?

Have you or someone you know ever been ripped off by the Automotive Repair Industry? If the answer is no, then be sure and keep reading.

In the "Get ya comin and Goin" file. . . .

How about the Director of the Bureau of Automotive Repairs letting the residents of the State of California know that they're paying \\$5 Billion dollars a year for auto body repairs that are sub standard, dangerously unstable or never done! In stings of auto body shops it was found that 40% of the bills were fraudulent.
A repair shop owner from Hawaiian Gardens, operating a consumer advocacy service, said they had tracked over 400 wreck checks and didn't see NOT ONE done correctly!!------{-Is that hard to believe or what? I think I better keep this article because thats a little hard to believe and I'll probably get challenged on the accuracy of this report}
The director sited the case of a 1993 Mercedes 500SL. The \\$85,000 sports car had repairs that came to over $18,000, of which $7,800 was for parts that were not installed and labor that was not done! "Click Here" for the full story

The Insurance Companies sometimes are involved with repair shops to use sub standard parts or make deals to get discounts on labor ---As proven by the 1.2 Billion dollar verdict against State Farm in a recent class action suit.
The long and the short of it is [ in my humble opinion ] --- If some of these billion dollar Insurance companies are chickenshit enough to go around and scheme with body and fender shops--then you got to know they'll lie and cheat to get over on the masses.---- If a person or a group tried to get some legislation enacted to require fairness out of the Insurance Industry--- What do you think would happen??

I got a message (at delphi forums) about a week ago. The lady said, she once lived in a state that tried to bring in No-Fault Insurance. According to her the scare tactics (advertising etc.) were beyond belief!! Believe it or not there's a lot (I mean a whole lot) of people that hear something on the radio or see it on TV, and assume it's true. Not to mention newspapers and other publishing type advertisements.-------With the amount of money on hand and available to the Insurance Industry, does anyone think they'd have any trouble finding the right people to tell their lies for them, or stretch the truth to suit their purposes?

Assuming what you've read here is true, would you think the Insurance Industry as a whole is capable and willing, to do what's necessary to keep the status quo?
So, that brings us back to the original question. After reading this story do you still feel confident saying you've never been ripped off?
Next time you find yourself at an Automotive Repair Shop or a Body and Fender Shop, just remember- - - - - -NOT ONE!!!!!!!

One More Opinion on No-Fault

No Fault Is a Discredited System!!
No state has switched from traditional tort law to no fault since 1976.
In the two states that repealed no-fault laws since 1991, liability premiums dropped while they increased in states retaining no fault.
In Georgia, liability premiums went down 12.5% in 1992 the year after no fault was repealed;
In Connecticut, liability premiums went down 9.7% in 1994, the year after it repealed no fault, according to NAIC data.
