Tonbokan Institute of Martial Studies & Cultural Research Goshinjutsu |
Goshinjutsu translates as "Self Defense Methods." Most contemporary Japanese self-defense arts fall under this label, including Karate-do, Judo, Aikido, Kenpo, and several Kobudo styles. Within the Tonbokan Goshinjutsu system, a hybrid blend of Aikijutsu, Japanese Kenpo, and aspects of Chinese Kung-fu are taught as a basic and simple means of guarding against injureous confrontation, and promotes living a healthful, mindful, and peacefully productive life. This system is used by the Nippon Kurokawa-ryu Bugei & Tonbo Kokusai Bumon Kenkyukai (Tonbokan) as a primer for new students interested in entering it's more advanced level martial arts system of traditional AikiBujutsu and modern combatives. It is a philosophical self-defense art, that promotes finding solutions and remaining determined in the face of adversity. Proper response rather than engaging in constant or willful conflict readily. Consciously avoiding problematic areas as best as possible, and being prepared when such places are unavoidable. As well as showing understanding, compassion, consideration, respect, and tolerance towards others. "We train our minds and bodies to be more capable. We train in self-defense, that we may continue to live in peace, assisting others to grow and do the same. Goshinjutsu is not about fighting, or war. It is about staying safe, and prospering against all else that those we cherish around us may also prosper and be raised up ." |
