“Is this it?” Melanee asked, pointing to a large building coming up at the next turn. “Yep,” Shane said, giving a light yawn, “this is it.” Melanee pulled her Porche into the large carpark out the front of the club and turned off the engine. “Let’s do this,” Melanee said, taking a deep breath. Shane gave a small laugh, “Mel, why are you so nervous?” he asked, “they’re just my friends, they’re not kings or anything?” “I’m just scared they won’t like me,” Melanee said, frowning, “what if they all hate me and don’t want you to see me any more?” Shane smiled and gave Mel a quick hug, “you don’t have to worry about that, Mel, nothing can take you away from me,” he said, letting go and smiling at her, “now, let’s go!” Melanee smiled and followed Shane out of the car. She locked it quickly and excepted Shane’s arm as they walked toward the entrance of the club. “I.D, please,” the bouncer said, with a lack of enthusiasm. Melanee and Shane both pulled out their I.D and showed it to the bouncer, who nodded them through with a blank look in his eye. “Well,” Shane said, looking around the club, “we’re are supposed to be meeting them by the bar, in about… 5 minutes or so.” “Cool,” Melanee said, also looking around the club, “let’s get a drink, then.” Shane smiled and they both went off to the bar to pick up some drinks. “What’ll you guys have?” the bartender asked, smiling at the pair. “Erm… we’ll just have two glasses of champagne, please,” Shane said, smiling back at the bartender, then he turned to Melanee and whispered, “the beer drinking will start when the lads get here.” Mel took the glass of champagne the bartender was offering and clinked glasses with Shane, “here’s to new friendships, Shane,” she said, smiling, “and a hope that old ones will last.” Shane nodded his head, and took a sip of his champagne, “You’ll love the guys, they only have one problem,” he said, frowning slightly, “they’re never on time.” Mel laughed, “oh, don’t worry about it,” she said, taking a sip of her own champagne, “we can keep ourselves entertained!” Shane raised his eyebrow, “and what do you have in mind, Miss Spencer?” he asked, finishing off his small glass of champagne, “remember I have a girlfriend!” “Oh, god, you’re ego, Mr Filan!” Melanee said, slapping Shane lightly, “as if I’d ever do anything with you!” Shane pretended to look hurt, “don’t you think I’m cute?” he asked, pouting, “now I’m sad…” Melanee laughed, “oh, Shaney baby, you know I love ya!” she said, hugging him, “ofcourse I’d get with you, but I don’t want to break up you and Fia!” Shane laughed sarcastically, “oh how thoughtful of you!” he said, “I’m sure Fia would be most grateful.” At that moment, Shane’s mobile rang, “oh, speak of the devil,” he said, pointing to the caller id, flashing ‘Sweetie fee’. Mel smiled and was about to walk off to leave Shane in privacy, when he pulled her back. “Okay, bye, Hun,” Shane said, “I love you too, see you soon, okay, bye.” “Oh, that was quick,” Melanee said, after Shane hung up, “is everything, okay?” “Yeah, it’s fine,” Shane said, smiling, “she’s on her way here, now, she’ll be here in about 15 minutes.” “Oh, good,” Melanee said, smiling, “I’ll get to see her again, I haven’t seen her in ages!” Shane smiled and put his arm around Mel’s shoulders, “now let’s find a nice dancing partner for you!” “Hey…” Mel started, then turned and groaned loudly, “oh no, he’s here, oh hell.” “Who?” Shane asked, turning around, “what’s wrong?” “See that guy over there,” Mel said, pointing quickly to a tall, lanky red-head of about 20, “he really fancies me and seems to pop up everywhere I go, I don’t like him, but he can’t accept it!” “Don’t worry about him, luv,” Shane said, giving her a reassuring hug, “he probably works here or something, now let’s dance.” Shane pulled Melanee off onto the dancefloor and Mel soon forgot about the man, standing in the corner. |
