Chapter 11
puzzeled, I guess Bryan hadn’t told them about what
happened. And I really didn’t feel like getting in to it now,
so I tried to sound as normal as possible when I spoke:
“Hiya Shay, is Bryan in?” “Errm yeah, he’s in his room…”, he let me in, “what’s
going on with you two? I’ve never seen him this upset
before. What did you do to him?”
“Not now Shane, please…where are the other guys?”
“They’re at Nic and Rhiannon’s place, I’m just getting a
sweater and then I’ll be off as well, so you’ll get some
privacy.” I looked at him and forced a smile. Shane
followed me up the stairs as he was getting the sweater
in his room next to Bryan’s. I stopped outside Bry’s door
and listened to the song playing in there.
“It’s all I need, when you hold me and whisper tenderly
That I’m the one, you will love forever, forever
What else could I want?”
I felt tears running down my cheeks again. Shane saw
them and put his arm around my shoulders.
“He’s been playing that song all day, there’s no doubt that his
repeat button works…”, he realized this was not the time to
tell jokes and he quickly apologized.
“That’s our song”, I explained between my sobs, “he
used to sing ‘On The Wings Of Love’ to me every night
to go to sleep and even in the mornings to wake me
up…” Just as I moved closer to the door the music
stopped and I heard Bry saying,
“Why am I doing this to myself? I don’t need this, I don’t
need anybody!” I leaned against Shane and started
crying harder, I had hurt him so much.
“Shhhsh don’t cry, he doesn’t mean that, he’s just
upset… Go in there and sort things out between the two
of you. You are not meant to be apart!” I gave Shane a
grateful look and then he softly squeezed my arm, took
his sweater and left. I took a deep breath, dried my tears
and knocked on Bryan’s bedroom door. There was a few seconds of silence
before he said ‘Come in’. I slowly pressed the handle and opened the door…
