Chapter 14
I’d like you to meet”, Nic said as she led us to the living
room. All the others were there and their faces lit up
when they saw me and Bryan walking in with our arms
around eachother. I saw this cute girl sitting on the couch
talking to Kian and I understood that she was the the one
Nic wanted me to meet. But why? I’d never seen this girl before.
The girl saw me and imediately came up and gave me a hug,
“You must be Heléna! It’s so great to finally meet you in
person!” I had no idea who she was, but of course
hugged her as well, I mean what was I supposed to do?
Just stand there like a fool… At least now I understood
that she was someone from a mailing list.
“Heléna this is Sharon.”, Nic said when she saw my confused expression.
“Oh my God! Sharon!”, this time it was me who threw myself
around her neck! “What are you doing here? This is so
cool!” I’d been right, Sharon was a girl from one of the
lists. She told me that she was in Sydney visitng some
relatives and realized that Nic and Rhiannon lived here
as well so she wrote them and e-mail and asked if they
could meet up. So they decided that Sharon should
come over and meet the lads and me.
Sharon wanted to know everything that we’d been up to
and how we all met etc. And it didn’t take long before we
all were involved in a conversation about fate and love. Suddenly Kian said:
“I have to tell you guys something… I guess you’re all
wondering why I’d been sad and acting so strange the
last couple off weeks…” No-one said anything, we all
just nodded and waited for him to continue. “I think I’ve
been worse around Heléna and Bryan and if I’m not
mistaking I’m sure you Heléna would like an explanation
to why I kissed you earlier on today…” The second he
said that 7 seven pairs of eyes were turned to me and
they were all big as tennis balls.
“You did what? You kissed my girlfriend?!”, Bryan quickly
got up from the couch and looked first at Kian and then at me.
“Wait Bryan, calm down and let me explain…” Bryan
was still standing and now looked at Kian again with
eyes full of anger.“Bryan please, sit down and listen to
what he has to say.” I placed a hand on his arm and got
him to sit down again still with his eyes fixated on Kian.
None of the others said anything, they looked a bit
shocked though, but waited patiently to hear the story about Ki’s behaviour.
“Ok, here it goes and please do not interrupt me… let me finish.”
He said this to all of us, but his eyes were on Bryan.
“Well, as you know, me and Heléna have become really
good friends, we got along from that first meeting at the
airport. And at some time I started noticing that the
feelings I had for her was more then just friendship, but I
also noticed that she and Bryan are made for each
other.” He smiled at us when he said that and then he
continued, “So I just kept my feelings inside, but every
time I saw the two of them together it was as if
something inside of me broke… But then a few days
ago I was thinking about this whole situation and I
realized that I wasn’t in love with Heléna,” turning to me
smiling, “no offense though. I was just in love with the feeling of
being in love, if you know what I mean… I saw all of guys
together and how lucky you are and I wanted that
myself… I guess I felt a bit left out. And that’s why I
kissed Heléna today, I wanted to make sure how I really
feel. And I felt nothing when I kissed her and don’t worry
Bry coz she pulled away straight away! She loves you
more than life itself.” Bryan slowly reached for my hand,
as if to say that he felt the same thing about me. There
was a moment of silence after Kian had finished, but
then it was as if everyone in
the room took a sigh of relief. Finally everything was back to normal…
