We Were Two
Chapter 15
“Bankruptcy? How could this happen? What are you gonna do now?”
“I don’t know Sharon… Apparently someone in the staff
have been dissipating money for quite a while and now
he got caught, but it was too late…” Me and Sharon
were sitting in her room talking about the news my boss
had given me earlier; they had to close down the hotel
and everyone, including me, had to leave their jobs.
“I don’t know what do to… I really like it here in Sydney
y’know, I’ve just begun to settle in.”
“But maybe this was for the best after all Heléna.”
“What do you mean, ‘for the best’? I just lost my job, how
am I gonna pay rent without a job?”
“It’s not like you have to stay here in Australia y’know. I
mean the lads are going back to Ireland in four days and
I’m sure Bryan would be thrilled if you came with him!” I raised my voice,
“No! Definately not! That’s out of the question.” Sharon
looked at me like I was crazy, why did I react like that? “I
mean, I think I wanna go back home, I really miss my
family and friends…” I knew that Sharon knew that there
was more to my reaction than that, but she didn’t ask.
She was right though, there was more to it, I’d never
really let go of the thought that I couldn’t handle being
Bryan’s girlfriend when he started working with Westlife
again. I hated myself for having those thoughts, why was it that everytime I
found happiness in my life, I started thinking too much and
analysing everything?  “Have you told Bryan about this yet?” Sharon asked.
“No, not yet… I was thinking about telling him today
before we all go out. I hope he’ll understand…” I just then
realized that we only had four more days together and I
felt tears welling up in my eyes.
“Don’t cry, hun”, Sharon gave me a hug and tried to
comfort me, “if the two of you are meant to be together,
and I believe you are, then you’ll find a way to get through this…”
“I hope so…”  Just then Kian walked into the room,
“I’m really sorry to disturb you ladies, but Sharon
sweetie, I really need to talk to you.” Yes, you heard right.
Love was now really in the air in the Westlife camp!
“Just a minute babe”, she answered and then turned to
me again, “Go talk to Bryan, the sooner the better…”
“Thank you Sharon!” I said as I got up and walked
towards the door. When I passed Kian he gently stroke my cheek and said,
“Don’t worry Heléna, everything’ll be fine.” I smiled at
him. Kian was the first one I told about the bankruptcy
and he was certain that whatever happened, me and Bryan could work it through.
As I walked to the lads’ house I still wasn’t sure about
what to do; stay in Sydney? Go back home? Or maybe I
should go with Bry? Why did everything have to be so
complicated? Or was it? I thought about it one more time
and as I knocked on the door I had made my decision…
