Description: Fishing is only allowed off the bottom part of the pier. This can make casting difficult hence the short rod but helps keep you dry(ish). Fishing is not allowed into the harbour or entrance. It can get overcrowded during the holiday period and parking in whitby is both hard to find and a complete ripoff.

locals call it crowlea but the map says howdiman

backbone for rocks
Description: This is one of the great hidden beaches in
northumbria. Drive though longhoughton and turn right into
crowlea road (before the spar shop). Follow the narrow road
through the farm gates and pop 20p in the honesty box (it's for
the church and let's be honest you need divine intervention to
catch out these days). High tide can be good here during a rough
sea as it's well sheltered. At low tide walk along the rocks on
the south side and cast into the bay.

marklocation: Travelling from Newcastle thru Seaton Delaval to
Seaton Sluice turn right at roundabout drive over bridge, sharp
left follow road to the end of the houses on the left access is
via a concrete ramp onto foreshore walk to the left about 50
yards keep the rock stack to your right Halls is made up of
flattish rock. This mark is only fishable on the larger tides.

tackle: The bottom is mainly rock and kelp.A rod with a bit of
backbone and a 7000 type reel should do the job. Bait- Peeler,
Lug, Mussel, Razor,Rag, and cocktails of the above.
Description: If you stay for the turn of the tide keep an eye on
the water it can come in behind you. Park your car away from the
ramp entrance,the local scallywags guess why cars are parked
there.

Wardens often ticket cars there. Car park by RNLI Building is
good. Best to fish as near to the end of the pier as possible and
watch out for snags near pier wall.

the river will do it. Very snaggy 20 yards out and closer. Use a
standard 2 hook rig for whiting or Pennel for Codling.
Description: lug or rag tipped off with mackeral, squid or razor.
Peeler good if you can get your hands on it!!!
