| On 13th October 2007 I went to see a Civil War re-enactment skirmish at the American History Museum at Claverton House, Bath, UK. It gave me an opportunity to study the action sequences and talk to some of the re-enactors in order to get more of an idea of what to write in the second Civil War Casca novel, Casca 27: The Confederate, which is due for release in Autumn 2008. Here's the photos that were taken. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ABOVE: The Confederates relax before the parade, then stand ready for the skirmish. Represented here are the 10th Georgian, 17th Virginian, 55th Virginian, 1st Arkansas and 16th Tennessee regiments. BELOW: The Union forces are inspected, and laugh at being told they can celebrate that evening with as much drink as they wish. Union regiments here were represented by the 42nd Pennsylvanian, 18th Missouri, 28th Massachusetts and the 4th US. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| BELOW: Initially the Confederate forces held the hill, and soon had to face an attack from Union forces. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ABOVE: Union forces advance and outflank the Confederate right, while the main attack pushes the Confederate left back. Once the top of the hill was captured, a second Confederate force approached from downhill, so the Union forces began to lay down a barrage of fire at the attacking Rebels. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
