The main reasons for building a hybrid car are it is more environmentally friendly and gets a lot better gas mileage than the average gas car.  The average gas car gets 22.3 miles per gallon.  The hybrid car gets an average of 60 mpg.  The draw back to a hybrid car is its performance.  For someone like me, a hybrid car is not the way to go.  It's lack of acceleration and power copared to a gas car.  But than again they aren't build for power, they are built for fuel effecientcy.
