Gem Sprite

Silvery raindrops softly fall; a thirsty earth is soothed with drink
Unheard, a tiny pixie's call; limpid wings of lacy pink
Ethereal fingers she extends, her face turned upward to the sky
She feels a drop as it descends, adjoin a teardrop from her eye
Enchantment is their downward dance; a union so unique
that gemstones form from their romance and tumble off her cheek
If it is springtime when they fall, the precious gems are emerald green
But should an angry storm befall, sparkling onyx will be seen
Summer brings the deepest blue; reflections of the sky and sea
Cold white winter's rendezvous sends pearl and diamond beguilingly
Most colorful, though, and gererous, is autumn's beauty shown;
when color so incredulous is gracefully bestown
Amber, quartz and ruby shine; sapphire, topaz, opal, jade
Each one absolute and fine, genuine and fairy made
She walks the earth till sun's return, replacing dark and humid mist
She leaves forthwith, no vexed concern for every spot her tears have kissed
Remaining is a rainbow path where telltale traces lay
Hues and prism aftermath of a rainfairy at play
