FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)
What is your studio like? I have a small in home studio that is very relaxed and informal. In fact, it is just a room in my house where I do photos- nothing fancy!:) I specialize in taking portraits of children newborn to 10 years of age. Why kids? That's what I have my experince with and that is what I enjoy. Just as a pediatrition does not generally treat adults, I also do not generally do adults. All my photos are done right from my home in Alpine UT. I will not do location shoots at this time (come to your house or go to a park etc) as I have a little one at home, and he is my first priority..

Do I have to schedule an appointment? Can I come early? Since I am working from my home, I cannot accomodate walk-ins, so an appointment must be made. Please do not come early. If you come early, I cannot promise that I will be home and I may not be ready for you.

Do you have a portrait preview system? YES! You see all pictures right after they are taken, and I print only the ones you want. We will keep shooting until we get the pictures YOU want.

How long should I plan for the appointment? That will vary according to you, your tastes and the temperment of your child that day. You should plan anywhere from 1-2 hours, but have had some parents stay as long as 3 hours on occasion.

Should I bring anything?
I have lots and lots of props, backdrops, costumes, dress-up clothes & dresses so all you need to bring is your child. If they have a special outfit or prop, I can try to work that in, if possible.

Do you take checks or credit cards? I prefer checks, but I can also take Visa, Mastercard, or Discover. For safety reasons, I do not keep change in the house, so if you pay cash, it must be exact change. (Payments made at time of sitting.)

Do you charge a separate sitting fee for each child? No, Unlike most studios who do, I just charge a sitting fee for four poses, regardless of the number of children you bring.

What is a sitting fee? The sitting fee covers the time scheduled for the appointment and the usage of my equipment (lights, wear & tear, equipment cleaning etc.) and is charged whether or not you order pictures. (However, I have never had anyone leave without ordering. :)

Do you do seniors, weddings, families or adults? Not really at this point. My experience is with kids, and I have never been happy with my work for families or adults. Just as an adult usually won't see a pediatrician for their health needs, they are probably better off having their photographic needs met by a photographer who specializes in those photos. (Or a general photographer.)

Can I bring another adult to help me during the shoot? You are welcome to bring whomever you wish if necessary. However, it is my experience that extra hands are usually not only not needed, but most of the time just make shooting harder since my studio is small and the extra person usually just ends up sitting in the corner feeling awkward. During your shoot, you and I will both be actively involved with your child, so they will not have a chance to "get into trouble." Afterwards, you will be picking pictures and your child can play with toys nearby. Keep in mind this is not a traditional studio, and my house is pretty baby proof.
