She went downstairs and saw Sarah come in, the stupidest smile on her face.
"-So, when are you taking Manny away from me? She asked, to try and not think about Lucky kissing her
-I wanted to go back tonight, but Lucky said he wanted to get to know me better, since we are not kids anymore and that I am not hung up on Nikolas anymore. So I guess I could say you have a week to see good-bye to MY son
-You never cared about him, why you caree now?
-I care about my son Lizzie, I care deepply, that is why I left him with GRAM, because I knew she would take better care of him that I ever could. But now I have a job, a stable situation, a stable home, and I want him with me. Besides, he nearly died with you
-Sarah please don't do this. I love Mannny with all my heart, I've been taking care of him since the day he was born, loving him like my own. I lost Hope, I lost Lucky, please I'm begging you, don't let me lose Manny
-He's coming back with me and that's it,, there is nothing you can do about it. You can take me to court if you want, but then you would have to explain how you killed your own daughter out of negligence and how Manny nearly died under a pile of wood because of you"
Elizabeth's hand hit Sarah's jaw before she could stop herself. Elizabeth ran upstairs, directly in Manny's room and she watched over him, peacefully asleep. She couldn't lose him, he was her sunshine, the reason she got up every morning, the reason she continued to live after Hope died. If he wasn't there anymore, why go on? She never thought about suicide before, but if Sarah took Manny away from her she would, and wouldn't even think twice about it.
She felt a presence and she quickly turned around, to come face to face with Sarah.
"-I know you love him Lizzie, I know you did your best with him. But I'M his mother
-It didn't seem to matter to you when yoou left him to us to follow your new beau when he was only 2 months old. Or when you decided to continue your studies in God knows what country and once again left him behind?
-How can you say I chose Eric instead off Manny just a couple of weeks after he was born? I didn't have a job, I was still in school, and Gram said she could take care of him for me, until I had enough money to do so myself.
-Sarah, I'm begging you. Don't take himm away from me, please. I would die, I will die.
-Sorry Liz, but Manny's MY son. You shoould've thought of that before you got on that horse"
Elizabeth gently leaned down and kissed Manny, before walking out. If she stayed in there, she would've done something terrible, like choke Sarah to death. Liz sat on her bed, unable to stop the tears. Hope had been dead for two and a half years, why everyone seemed to think they could still throw it in her face? At least she didn't abandoned her, play with her heart, and now, break it by taking her away from the only people who loved her. She heard a tap on her window and saw Lucky. She slowly got up to open it, and she just stayed there, all her strength was gone. She couldn't fight anymore. She just wanted to crawl up and die.
"-Oh Elizabeth I'm so sorry, I can't believe she said that. It was heartless and cruel. Lucky said, motioning to hold her, but she turned around and sat on her bed.
Lucky moved to take her in his arms but stopped when he saw she wouldn't respond to him. He gently kissed her forehead and left the same way he came in.
Two weeks had passed since Sarah came back to town, claiming her place in Manny's life. The boy broke down and cry every time his mother would mention leaving, and he would yell "I HATE YOU, WHY COULDN'T YOU STAY AWAY" before running upstairs, crying.
Lucky was passing as much time as he could with Sarah and Manny, letting them know how much he loved them and wanted them to be a family. Manny was pouting, although he loved Lucky. But the boy wanted Lucky, Elizabeth and him to be a family, not Sarah.
Elizabeth was watching her life fall apart, and there was nothing she could do about it. Even though Lucky asked her to trust him, and she did, she was afraid he would really fall for her sister, leaving her in the dust.
While she couldn't take it anymore, Elizabeth went to see Lucky. She wanted to know where things stood with Sarah, with Manny, with them. She lifted her fist to knock on the door but I heard something, a guitar. I didn't have to put my ear on the door, I could hear everything clearly. It was Lucky playing. And singing.
"Now, while we're here alone

Elizabeth's fist was still in the air, and it was trembling. She hadn't heard him sing in forever and all the feelings she felt every time were rushing back inside her. Mixed feelings of love, amazement, and others she couldn't identify. Remembering what she was doing she knocked, and the door flew open.
"-Elizabeth? Lucky was surprised
Elizabeth walked in, and once again, mixed emotions ran through her body. She saw the guitar on the bed. It was the one she gave him that day in the boxcar, where they kissed for the first time.
"-What can I do for you? He was uneasy, he knew she heard the song
Lucky took her by the arm and ran out. They didn't say anything on the way to the Hardy's house. Lucky pulled over and jumped out of the car, not waiting for Liz. When he saw Sarah he took her in his arms.
"-You were leaving? He asked

-Well, Lucky, I know you mean well, but Manny needs to get home
-Sarah, I thought you wanted us to be a family
-I do, but so far you did nothing to shoow me that, except take me out.
-Marry me. And let me adopt Manny"
