Lucky and Nikolas were playing a game of cards, waiting for Emily. They were supposed to go catch a movie, to get Elizabeth out of Lucky's mind. The teen thought about her all night last night, fighting to urge to call her. He had to find a way to let her go. She was not a part of his world anymore, and he wondered if she ever was. He knew right when he met her that there was something special about her. She held the key to his heart and now that she was gone, he missed her like crazy. They spent a couple of days separated before, but now, knowing he could not call her, was worst than anything he ever imagined. Nikolas just won the third hand in a row, when they heard a knock on the door. It was too soon for it to be Emily. She was supposed to be there around three and it was not even two yet. Nikolas got up to answer, and, when he opened the door, Lucky saw his brother getting on one knee and say "Your Majesty"
"-Nikolas, get up. Lucky heard from the other side of the door, as Nikolas obeyed. You've known me for too long to act this way
-But you were not a King back then sir. Answered Nikolas
-Sir? Sergei!
-Oh, please come in. This is my brother Lucas. Well, Lucky, Nikolas said when Sergei was in the kitchen
-So you are Lucky? Said Sergei, I have heard so much about you
-Good day sir, well Majesty, said Lucky, intimidated. Elizabeth was standing in front of him, in the trait of a man. That was creepy
-Call me Sergei, please, I have enough of Majesty back home. I told Elizabeth the same thing this morning.
-You saw Elizabeth? Lucky asked, his heart about to stop
-Oh yes, I met her at her adoptive grandmother's house. Charming young lady.
-Would you like to sit down? Asked Nikolas
-Yes, thank you"
Lucky still could not believe Elizabeth's real father, the King, was sitting on a chair in his kitchen. He still could not believe how Elizabeth looked like him. Sergei was looking at Lucky, obviously checking him out, and that was making him nervous.
"-I know I'm not good enough for her so give it up already! He thought"
The three men were looking at each other, obviously waiting for the others to say something. Lucky couldn't take his eyes of the King's safe. He was seeing Elizabeth and that was driving him crazy. Finally, Lucky talked
"-Your Majesty, I mean Sergei, sir, I don't know why you came all the way to our apartment, I mean Elizabeth is not here, and you don't look like you are here to talk to Nikolas, so I might as well save you the trouble. Elizabeth is not with me anymore. I let her go, for her sake. After all, she is a princess, she doesn't need a court jester courting her, so you can save your speech about the importance of royalty. Sir.
-Lucky, son, I know you are not with Elizabeth and that is precisely why I'm here. Nikolas could you leave us a minute?
-Certainly. Said Nikolas, leaving the room.
-Lucky, Elizabeth told me what happened yesterday
-And you are here to tell me you approve right? And to make sure I stay away from her right? Don't worry, I know my place in the world
-Well, to tell you the truth I don't agree. It was that kind of mentally that got my daughter to be raised in another family. You see, my father didn't want me to marry Natasha, you know her as Alexis. She was not a member of a royal family. So my father told me either to break it off or I would be disown from the family. That was the hardest decision I ever had to make. Had I known that Natasha was pregnant, it would've been different.
-Well, I don't think like that. My father raised me to know my place in the world and it is NOT with a princess, that's for sure
-And why not? I don't believe in blue blood Lucky. My blood is red, give me a knife and I will prove it. Me being a King means that my forefathers were better at stealing other people's money that's all. They proclaimed themselves as being superior, it is not true. All humans are equals. I firmly believe that. If you will take care of my Elizabeth I say go for it! Who cares about where I come from. Sure, where I come I am a big man, but would you go out with the president's daughter?
-Well, sure, I mean, why not?
-Then why not Elizabeth? You love her, I believe you do, and she loves you. Son, you have my blessing. I believe you can make her happy. If you don't love her the way she loves you, leave her alone. I have an army you know, Sergei said with a smile, but I know you do, so don't let a stupid title get in your way. Don't do the same mistake I did son, you'll regret it for the rest of your life.
-You actually want me to date Elizabeth?
-I want my daughter to be happy, and she was with you, or so I heard from her mother."
Lucky got up and started pacing the room. Millions of thoughts were going in his head at the same time. Why did he hurt her so bad? He had promised her he would never leave her and yet, he did, just like everyone else in her life. He wanted to kill himself for being such a bastard. Sergei wasn't saying anything, he didn't have to. The only thing he could ever do for his daughter, to make up for all the years he had been missing, was to give her back to love of her life. And he knew he would succeed. Never failed at anything before in his life, expect when he failed to keep Natasha by his side. He wouldn't fail for Kristina, for Elizabeth.
They heard a knock on the door and Lucky answered, to see Emily standing on the other side. He had forgotten about her. He looked at her, and finally invited her to come in.
"-Emily, I'd like you to meet his Majesty Sergei Kurikov. Sergei, this is Emily Quartermaine, a good friend of Elizabeth
-Hi Emily, said Sergei
-Hi Mister, I don't know what to call you I'm sorry
-Mister Kurikov will be fine dear. Lucky, was I keeping you from something?
-Well, actually, I was supposed to catch a movie with Emily and Nikolas, but someone is waiting for me
-Really who? Asked Emily
-Elizabeth"
Emily tried to hide her smile, but Sergei didn't. He put his hand on Lucky's shoulder, forcing the teen to look at him.
"-You are doing the right choice son. I'll see you both tonight, your choice, my treat
-It better be, answered Lucky, with a smile
-Bye Lucky. Emily, BYE NIKOLAS"
Sergei was gone before Lucky could say anything else. That was a really strange man, but Lucky already loved him to death. Lucky took his coat and went on, as Nikolas was getting out of his room.
Lucky arrived at Elizabeth's door with a single rose. He didn't want to over do it, he would be too busy begging. His heart was going crazy when he pushed the doorbell. Audrey answered and smiled at Lucky.
"-Lucky, dear, how are you?
-I'm good, how about you Mrs.. Hardy? Hum is Elizabeth around?
-Yes she is, up in her room"
Lucky thanked her and went up. Elizabeth's door was closed and he knocked softly. She didn't answer so he knocked harder. He heard her get up and opened her door, saying "you never quit do you?". When she saw Lucky, her eyes immediately filled up with tears. Lucky wanted to take her in his heart and make the pain go away, but he had to make amends first. Elizabeth, without saying anything, got out of the way and let him in. Lucky sat on her bed, not knowing what to say. Elizabeth sat beside him, looking angry, and said to him;
`-What are you doing here Lucky? I thought you said you wanted me out of your life?
-I know what I said, and I'm sorry. I know, it doesn't make it better, but I made a mistake, and I was wondering if you'd let me beg on my knees for your forgiveness?
-What for Lucky? So you can break my heart again? I don't think so
-I was a jerk all right? And I want to make it up to you, if you'll let me.
-You know, I don't mean to be rude, but Sarah was actually right, said Elizabeth
-About what?
-About what you really wanted from me. I didn't want to believe this at first, but I have to say that it was pretty obvious after yesterday
-What the hell are you talking about Elizabeth?
-Lucky, you broke up with me right after I gave myself to you. You could at least been subtle about it and waited a few day. I should've seen it coming, but I really thought you were different. Guess I was wrong.
-Elizabeth! God! That is NOT what happened!
-Then what did happen? I don't understand Lucky! You said you would never leave me, no matter what, and then boom, you break your promise. What am I supposed to do, welcome you back with open arms?"
Lucky started pacing the room, passing his hand in his hair. He should've known she would react like that, and he wasn't prepared. Words started to come out of his mouth, without him controlling them. He told her about Sergei's visit, what he said about blue blood, and everything else. Lucky told her he was ready to do anything she asked to make it up to her, anything she wanted him to. Elizabeth smiled at the thought of what she could ask him, and he smiled back. It would be ugly, he would pay, BIG TIME.
