Chapter 1

Elizabeth was sitting on the couch, her math book on her knees, both of her legs were crossed under her, writing on the sheets on the table in front of her. Sometimes she was stopping to think, putting her pencil in her mouth, and turning the pages of the book. Thinking she was alone in the house, she heard a noise and quickly turned around, and was relieved to see who it was.

"-Nikolas, about time you got here! I've been wrecking my brains with these math problems and you said you would be here to help me!

-I'm sorry Elizabeth, I got caught up with someone. He wouldn't let me leave, and we got into a fight, as always
-Who?
-My charming half-brother Lucky, who else. Now, let's get down to business shall we?"

Nikolas sat down next to Elizabeth and she showed him the problems she was having. They worked on them for a while, Nikolas explaining her where she was making mistakes, and why she was making them. Their heads were really close to each other, and Nikolas smiled at Elizabeth.

"-Thanks, I don't know what I would do without you, she said, kissing his cheek
-That's why I'm here, because you need mme!"

Elizabeth laughed and got up the couch. She always loved spending time with Nikolas, ever since she moved here. They didn't like each other at first, but it all changed. She now loved Nikolas with all her heart, and she knew he felt the same. They were really close now, sharing secrets, dreams, hopes, together. It hadn't been easy, getting to know each other, to just being able to look at each other. At first, they were always at each other's throat, calling each other names, physically fighting at some point. Then it all changed. They learned to know each other, rely on each other, love each other. Nikolas was the safest place Elizabeth had ever known. She could count on him, no matter what, no matter why, no matter where.

Nikolas got up and took her in his arms, letting her head to rest on his shoulder. He was so happy she was there, with him. He wasn't alone anymore. Elizabeth would always be there for him. They promised it to each other soon after they started getting along. They grew up the same way, alone, and they were just glad they now had someone to rely on. It was good to know Nikolas was coming home at night and Elizabeth was there waiting for him, and he could tell her about his day, and her telling him about hers, while they were having diner together. Then, before they went to bed, Elizabeth would sit on the bed, while Nikolas told her about his plans for the next day.

Nikolas never knew what it was like to have someone his own age in his life. Sure, before Elizabeth came to town, he was friends with Emily Quartermaine, but it was not the same. Elizabeth and he shared a bond he could not have, and would never have with anyone else. That wasn't entirely true. He had the same bond with another human being, but this time he really didn't want it. True, he didn't want it with Elizabeth either, at first, but he changed his mind about her, but NEVER would he change his mind about Lucky. Elizabeth was his sister, not half, not just his father's daughter. She was Nikolas Cassadine's sister. Lucky was just his mother's other son. Elizabeth would sit on his bed at night, sometimes talking until the sun came up, then leave for her own room. Nikolas could NEVER have that with Lucky. The two brothers were enemies down to the soul. They were jealous of each other. Nikolas because Lucky grew up with Laura, he's the one she kept, and Lucky was jealous because Nikolas was Laura's first born.

When Elizabeth came to town a couple of weeks ago with Alexis on Stefan's request, Nikolas wasn't too pleased. He had just found out Stefan was his father, and he already had to share him with a sister he never heard about. Of course, he couldn't know he had a sister before knowing Stefan was his father, but he never even knew Stefan had a child. Seemed he had an affair with a married woman and Elizabeth was the result.

Elizabeth took herself away from Nikolas and smiled at him.

"-I have to go, she said
-Where?
-Oh I'm meeting someone."

She didn't want to tell him she was meeting Sarah, her half sister. Ever since her mother told her about Jeff not being her father, and that her real genitor, Stefan Cassadine, wanted to get to know her, she was mad and angry. She had to put up with being second best to her sister Sarah all her life, only to learn she could've lived somewhere else, with someone else. Without thinking twice she packed her bags and left with her new aunt Alexis, to meet this father of hers. Elizabeth was surprised to find out he lived in the same city Sarah was at, Port Charles, where Audrey and Steve lived, Elizabeth's grandmother and grandfather. Well, Steve died a couple of years ago, and now, Audrey wasn't even her grandmother anymore. Elizabeth and Sarah met a couple of times at this restaurant where Sarah worked, Kelly's, and they were becoming good friends. Slowly. They weren't in competition anymore. Elizabeth didn't even considered her as a sister anymore either. Elizabeth changed her name to Cassadine, she didn't have anything to do with the Webbers anymore. But still she didn't want Nikolas to know, because he would get upset. Sarah was still playing the guilt card on Elizabeth about burning all bridges to their mother, and Nikolas was mad to see that his sister was putting herself through that every time. But Elizabeth wanted a friend. Even if it was her "former" sister.

At first, Elizabeth didn't like Nikolas, didn't like him at all. He was snotty, spoiled and thought as himself as the king of the world. It was a battle of power between them, who would get Stefan's attention the longest, who would be the perfect child. They even fought as who would bring him his morning paper. Then one day, Elizabeth found Nikolas sitting on the couch, crying. She asked him, sarcastically if Mrs. Lansburry made his bed wrong or something, and he told her to mind her business. she asked him what was the matter, he had gotten her curious, he is so stoic, so proud, Elizabeth never thought, up to that day, he even knew what tears was. She sat down next to him, remembering all the times she wanted Sarah to do it but she wouldn't, and put a hand on his shoulder.

"-I don't know why it still hurts, he said, wiping his tears, I mean I know, knew all my life, she loved them more than me, so why every time she breaks a date off with me to be with them, I cry?
-Who are we talking about Nikolas? Elizzabeth asked
-My mother. He said, sighing. I was suupposed to meet her for lunch today, but her husband and my half brother needed her for something so she canceled, again.
-I'm sorry, she said, while he looked att her in disbelief. I am! I know what it's like to be second best to your sibling Nikolas, I know what it's like to fight for your mother's attention and always losing the battle.
-How can you know? You lived with her, she didn't give you away and kept your sister
-No, but maybe it would've been better iif she did! Don't get me wrong, I know it must be awful for you, but at least you didn't have to stay in the house and watch your mother play favorites to your brother all of your life.
-Yeah, you're right. Hey are you busy rright now?
-Not really, why?
-Wanna have lunch with me? I was suppossed to meet Laura at the PC grill, but you and I could go together
-Oh so I'm the consolation prize? Elizabbeth said with a smile
-Look if you don't want to go
-Nikolas I'm kidding, let's go"

After that day, Nikolas and Elizabeth were the best of friends. They knew what the other was thinking, because they basically went through the same thing in their own way. Two siblings in a world of strangers. Elizabeth didn't know that Lucky guy, but he seemed like a brat, always out to get in Nikolas' face to hurt him or something. She didn't know him, but she knew she didn't like him. After all, he was a Spencer, she was a Cassadine. It was in her blood to hate everything Spencer. Stefan told her the family history, and it was her job, as Elizabeth Cassadine, to carry it on.

Elizabeth was waiting outside Kelly's for Sarah. The girl hated to walk in a restaurant alone, and Sarah knew it, but she was late, like always. So now Elizabeth was standing outside Kelly's, freezing, waiting for Sarah to finally show up.

"-If you go in they won't eat you, you know"

Elizabeth heard behind her back. She turned around, ready for a comment, but she just stood there. He was so handsome, all dressed in black, with a long winter coat, a black scarf around his neck, both of his hands in his pockets. He was taller than she was, with baby blue eyes. Elizabeth smiled at him, before saying;

"-Too bad, why would I go in then?"

The guy nearly chocked at her comment and she laughed. He had the most incredible smile, with dimples on both his cheeks. She turned around again, facing the window, and she heard him chuckle.

"-Are you waiting for someone? He asked
-Yeah I am, she said, facing him again.<
-Why don't you wait for them inside? Itt's warmer
-Because we said we would meet outside. Besides, I like it when it's cold
-Well, I don't, so I'll go inside, maybee I'll see you around
-You'll see me inside as soon as my frieend arrives!
-Right! He said, frowning one eyebrow.""

Elizabeth watched him go in, and he sat with an older man. They look alike, she thought, must be his father. Sarah arrived at that moment and they both got in. Elizabeth saw Sarah smile at the guy she saw outside, and he waved for them to go at their table.

"-Hi! Said Sarah, while Elizabeth just smiled
-Hey there Sarah, said the man, how are you? You're not working today are you?
-No, I'm not! Oh, this is Elizabeth, shhe said, pointing her sister
-Hi! The three others said at the same time.
-Well Cowboy, said the man, I have to goo
-You are leaving me alone already dad? Said the cute guy
-Yep, Your mother's calling. Bye girls,, Elizabeth, nice to meet you
-You too Elizabeth answered.
-You know, if you are alone, you could ssit with us, said Sarah to the guy,
-Sure, sit down, he answered, while the girls each took a chair. Sarah, you told me your sister was cute, he said with a smile, you didn't say she was this much pretty though.
-Thank you, Elizabeth said, blushing andd thinking he was quite a charmer.
-I'm Lucky Spencer by the way, he replieed, reaching to shake her hand"
