"-It's OK, it's cleaned, you know"
Elizabeth looked at him with a sarcastic smile. She saw him reach out his hand again, and, once again, she didn't take it.
"-What's the matter Ms. Webber? He asked with a smile, fearing human contact?
-First of all, I think my sister here foorgot to tell you I changed my last
name. I took my real father's name and it is not Webber. It's Cassadine and
as you know, we don't like to put our hands in dirt. Sarah, I'll see you
later, when you are in better company"
Without saying anything else, Elizabeth got up and walked out of the restaurant. She looked at him one last time from the window. His jaw was tense and he looked mad, saying something at Sarah, talking as much with his mouth as he did with his arms. She went down to the docks and saw the launch wasn't there. Her father was probably on his way to the island right now, and she called to have the launch sent back to get her.
"-Can I talk to you for a second? She heard in her back
-What do you want Lucky? She asked without turning around
-I know there is no love lost between the Spencers and the Cassadines, but you
didn't have to be so crude about it you know? I didn't know who the hell you
were.
-Oh, I didn't hurt your feelings did I? She asked, sarcastically
-I think I can take it, but as a Cassadine, you have to learn to be more
polite, more sophisticated. Now, as much as I don't like your brother, at
least he would've said something like "I will not lower myself to your level by
shaking the hand of an enemy". Now that's classy
-Whatever
-See, that's another thing. Cassadines don't say "whatever" or other
Americanism. Your brother would've said "your speech is of no interest to me"
-Is there a point to this conversation MMr. Spencer? I don't have time to play
your pointless games"
Elizabeth went to sit on the bench, facing the water. Mrs. Lansburry said the Launch would be sent for her as soon as Charles, the driver, arrived. Lucky was still watching her by the pay phone, and Elizabeth tried her best not to let her eyes wander his way. Sure he was attractive, but his father was responsible for the death of her uncle Stavros, her grandfather Mikos and her other uncle Viktor. Lucky was, in a way, responsible for Nikolas' heartache concerning Laura, and he was always in Nik's face anyway. Even pushed him down the stairs at some point. No matter how cute he was, Lucky Spencer was just off limits to a Cassadine, any Cassadine.
Elizabeth was lying on her bed, reading a book, trying to get the image of Lucky's smile out of her head. For some reason, she wasn't able to, and that was making her really mad. He was cute, yeah, handsome even. So? That didn't mean she wouldn't forget about him. She was just mad at her worst enemy by blood for being too damn cute.
"-Elizabeth? Called Nikolas from the bottom of the stairs, Someone's here to see you"
Elizabeth got up and ran down the stairs. She was happy that her visitor, whoever it was, would take her mind off of Lucky for a while. From the top of the stairs she saw Nikolas sitting on the couch, with Stefan sitting on the "king's" chair, as she called it. At the other end of the couch was sitting.....LUCKY?
As soon as he saw her he got up, and smiled. She cursed to herself and went directly in front of him.
"-What do you want? She asked, mad
-Now Elizabeth, as much as I don't like to say this, Lucky's a guest in this
house and you will talk to him with respect and engaging manners. Said Stefan,
without looking up from his book
-Sorry Father. To what I owe the pleasuure of your company? Elizabeth
answered, between her teeth, her jaw closed tightly
-Well, Ms Cassadine, said Lucky, condesccending, after you left our meeting so
abruptly, you forgot your purse by the chair. Sarah wanted to bring it to you,
but, being a gentleman and all, I offered to do so. Here you go, he said,
giving her the purse
-You did that just to get in my face, shhe answered, forgetting her manners.
-It's such a pretty one too, said Lucky with a smile
-Oh stuff it Spencer! She was getting rreally mad, he was just so handsome!
-Elizabeth! Said Stefan
-Sorry. Thank you to have taken the timme to bring this back to me.
-Anytime. You ought to be more careful with your belongings Ms Cassadine, one
day I might not be the one to find it.
-Oh why do you stick your head where thee sun don't shine?
-ELIZABETH! Shouted Stefan, while Nikollas bursted out laughing"
Elizabeth ran up to her room, angry. She slammed her door and sat on her bed. Why did she lose her temper just now? She used to play that game with Sarah, and she was always the one winning, Sarah was always the one running to her room, frustrated. After a while she heard a knock on her door, and got up to open it, getting face to face with her brother. He was looking at her, obviously trying to contain his laughter. She kept staring right into his eyes, and, gradually, his silly smile faded. Then, and only then, she let him come in her room.
He sat on her bed, and took her hand. Nikolas knew what was going on. His little sister was struck by lighting when it came to Lucky Spencer. It was love at first sight. He just knew it because it happened to him with Emily. Not that he would tell anyone other than Liz, Emily was just a good friend to him for others, and it was killing Elizabeth to feel this for Lucky. And that was so obvious downstairs. And Nikolas knew she knew, although she was fighting it, denying it.
"-Wanna talk about what just happened downstairs? Asked Nikolas
-What's there to talk about? I lost my temper at his condescending act, like
he wanted me to, and now Father must be mad at me.
-Actually, after Lucky left, he laughed to tears. He said you were a true
Cassadine but speaking your feelings like normal people.
-My own father laughed at me? How refreeshing! She said, punching her pillow.
-Elizabeth, Nikolas laughed, calm down, it's no big deal. You should see
Father when he fights with Luke, it's worst, trust me. He gets so mad, one
time he threw a whole set of plates on the wall. Mrs. Lansburry was NOT happy.
-Thanks Nikolas, I feel better now.
-Hey, tomorrow I'm taking Lesley Lu heree for a session of movie watching, why
don't you join us?
-Depends on the movies you intend on wattching
-Well, so far we have Hercules and Beautty and the beast. You up for it?
-Sure, a day with your little sister alwways cheering me up.
-Cool, I have to go, I'm meeting Emily ffor a movie, I'll see you tomorrow, I
might be home kinda late"
Nikolas kissed Elizabeth on the top of her head, and went on his way. He still could not believe how close he and his sister got. That was like a dream come true. When he found out he had a brother, for a split second he had hoped they could act like brothers, leaning on each other, but it was clear Lucky didn't want that. The young brother blamed Nikolas for saving Lesley Lu's life, while all he could do was stand by and watch. Well, if Nikolas had to choose between a relationship with his sister alive, or with his brother while his sister was dead, he would do the same thing, save her life again. If Lucky was too stupid to understand Nikolas didn't save her to make him look stupid, that was his problem. Now Nikolas had to chance for a real relationship with another of his sibling, Elizabeth, and he wouldn't mess that up because of Lucky, or anyone.
Elizabeth tried to pick her book up, the one she was unsuccessfully reading before she was rudely interrupted, but again her mind wandered away. Not just to Lucky, but to her life in general. A little over a month ago, she was living in Bosnia with her mother and father, after the family she was living with in Colorado kicked her out, when all her world got turned upside down. Stefan called Marguerite and told her he knew Elizabeth was his daughter, that he had just found out, and he wanted a relationship with her. Stefan didn't want to take her away from the Webbers, but he did want to get to know his younger daughter. It was Elizabeth's choice to come and live with Stefan. It was Elizabeth's choice to change her name and leave her family behind. It was Elizabeth's choice to love her new father and brother unconditionally, completely, and not to look back on what her life was before. She was not happy with the Webbers, she was with the Cassadines. End of story. Sure they were stoic and upright, and sometimes it was driving her crazy, but they didn't want to change her personality, unlike the Webbers, they just wanted to make her more polite, more sophisticated. And, to be honest, she needed it, big time.
