Chapter 4

"-Nikki and Lucky are gone to the bathroom.
-Really sweetie? Elizabeth said, takingg the girl on her knees. Did you like the movie?
-Yeah! Answered Lulu, smiling.
-Hercules is one handsome guy isn't he?<
-Lucky and Nikki are more!
-You got that right
-What did you say?"

Elizabeth lifted her head and saw Lucky only feet away from her. Lulu giggled and Lucky sat down next to the girls.

"-I said she was right to say Nikolas is handsome.
-What about Lucky? Asked Lulu
-Yeah what about Lucky? Asked Lucky"

> Elizabeth whispered something in Lulu's hear, getting the girl to giggle again, both her hands in front of her mouth. Lucky said "Hey No Fair" and he started to tickle Lulu, asking her to tell him what she was laughing about, but the girl only answered "because you are tickling me", getting Elizabeth and Lucky to laugh. Lesley Lu was laughing so hard, she was kicking, sometimes hitting Elizabeth, sometimes hitting Lucky. Elizabeth saw lulu lift her foot in the air, and let it fall, right on Lucky's thigh. Or so she thought.

Lucky left Lulu alone, and Elizabeth saw him gasping for air. Lesley looked at her brother, sad.

"-Lucky are you OK? The girl asked
-Yeah, I'm OK, you just hit a soft spot sweetie, he said catching his breath.
-I'll tell you what Lizbeth said
-LESLEY LU SPENCER!!!! THAT'S OUR SECREET! Said Elizabeth, laughing
-Hey, I'm hurt and I need something to ffeel better! Said Lucky, beginning to have some color in his face.
-Not at my expense! Said Elizabeth, I'lll get you some ice if that's what you need!"

Elizabeth got up, and Lucky reached out for her, took her hand and pulled her back on the couch. Putting ice where he was hurting was NOT a good idea.

"-I'll be OK, I don't need ice, thank you! He said, smiling. Lulu, just wait and tell me when we get home.
-Tell you what? Asked Nikolas. He justt entered the room
-Nothing that concerns you, answered Luccky"

Elizabeth saw the change in Lucky and was shocked. He was smiling, playing with her and Lulu, and, all of a sudden, as soon as Nikolas entered the room, boom, it was like he put up a mask of arrogance and hate. Elizabeth put back her mask too. For a second there, she forgot who Lucky actually was, and she was hating herself for it. When she realized he was still holding her hand, she took it out of his, as if she just had been burned. He looked at her, surprise, and saw hatred in her eyes.

"-Think we could watch the other movie so Lulu and I can get out of here? Asked Lucky, looking at Nikolas
-Sure. Lesley Lu, do you want more popccorn? Answered Elizabeth
-No Thank you.
-Something to drink? Offered Nikolas -I'll take something, said Lucky, while Lulu shook her head."

Elizabeth got up and put Lesley Lu on Lucky, directly where he got hurt, and she heard him gasp for his breath. She went in the kitchen, and took deep breaths. She could've called Mrs. Lansburry for the drinks, but Elizabeth was still not used to the idea of having someone do these things for her. Besides, she needed some time alone so she could calm her heart down.

"-Need any help? She heard behind her back"

She quickly turned around and came face to face with Lucky, only inches away from her. So much for calming her heart down. She turned around, opened the fridge and took 3 cans of sodas.

"-Thanks, but I think I can handle three drinks, I'm not as helpless as I look, she said, facing him again, only to find him even closer to her.
-Oh I know, he said, fixing her mouth, tthere's something you are as you look though
-What's that? She asked, her chest goinng up and down fast as her breath quickened
-Beautiful. And terribly disturbing." Elizabeth saw him lean down to her, his eyes still fixed on her mouth. She still had the cans in her hands, and her heart accelerated as she felt Lucky's lips pressuring hers. She was so out of breath she thought she was going to pass out. Her heart was going a million miles an hour, she was dizzy. The only thing she could think about what how wonderful these kisses were to her, how good they made her feel. Before she realized it, she was kissing him back, and both his hands were on her hips, pulling her closer to him. Lucky was kissing her gently, slowly, and she was responding with every beat of her heart. Her mind was numb, she couldn't think of anything else other than these baby blues eyes and those gorgeous lips that were caressing hers. That's when she pulled away so fast he nearly lost his balance.

"-Don't you EVER touch me again!"

Elizabeth ran out of the kitchen onto the video room, gave a can to Nikolas and sat down on the couch. Nikolas could see something was bothering her. Her chest was going up and down fast, like if she was out of breath, her face was all red and her hands were shaking. Nikolas saw Lucky coming slowly in the room and, without even looking at Elizabeth, sat down next to her. He took the soda she left of him on the table, and sat back, his butt half-way out of the sofa.

"-Shall we start the movie? Asked Nikolas, nervous
-Yeah please, the sooner it's starts, thhe sooner it finishes! Answered Lucky"

Nikolas closed the light and started the video. Elizabeth was watching the television, fighting with herself not to look at Lucky. Her heart was refusing to go to its normal beat again, and she was still out of breath. She passed a nervous hand in her hair, and she saw, from the corner of her eye, that Lucky was watching her do it, and her heart started to race again. She saw him scratch the back of his neck, before slamming the hand on his thigh and letting out a big sigh. Elizabeth closed her eyes and crossed her arms on her chest, to prevent her hand to do something stupid, like grab his, but she opened her eyes right away. The only thing she could see, behind the black of her eyelid, was Lucky, leaning down, his eyes gazing at her mouth. She could still feel the pressure of his lips on hers, the taste of his kisses. She took the chance to look at him and he was leaning against the back of the couch, his eyes closed. Elizabeth thought maybe he fell asleep, but he let out a big sigh, turned his head around, and looked at her. They locked eyes and stared at each other for a while. Elizabeth was the first one to look away, as Lucky's head was slowly moving in her direction.

Even though she wasn't watching the movie, Elizabeth's eyes didn't left the screen once. She could see from the side that Lucky was watching it too, although she could swear his mind was somewhere else. Back in the kitchen, with her, maybe?

"-ELIZABETH IMOGENE CASSADINE STOP THAT RIGHT NOW! Her mind yelled at her. HE IS A SPENCER, MORTAL ENEMY OF YOUR FAMILY FOR TWO GENERATIONS NOW. DON'T TURN THIS INTO ROMEO AND JULIET"

Besides, he was the brother of her own brother, so didn't it make them family, in a way? Finally, the movie finished, and Nikolas opened the lights. Both Lucky and Elizabeth jumped out of the couch, and talked at the same time.

"-Maybe it's time--"

Nikolas and Lesley Lu laughed at them, and Nikolas took his baby sister in his arms. It was time to take her home, dinner time was fast coming. While Lucky put his boots on, Elizabeth dressed Lulu. Nikolas asked Liz if she was coming with him, walking them to the launch, but she refused, pretending she still had homework to finish. Lesley Lu kissed her on the cheek, thanking her for the afternoon.

"-You are my sister, right? Asked the girl
-Why do you say that? Replied Elizabethh
-Well, Nikolas is my brother and you aree his sister, so that makes you my sister right?
-No! Answered Lucky and Elizabeth at thhe same time.
-HUH? Asked Lulu, confused
-I'll explain it to you on our way home,, said Lucky. And don't forget, you still have to tell me what Elizabeth said that made you laugh so hard earlier
-No she doesn't! Replied Elizabeth. Doon't forget Lulu, this is our secret
-I won't! Said the little girl
-Thank you for the nice afternoon, said Lucky, looking at Nikolas. And for the nice talk in the kitchen. He said, looking at Elizabeth
-It was our pleasure, said Nikolas, intrrigued by the smile his words brought on Lucky's face.
-I'll see you around Elizabeth, Lucky saaid, before going out the door
-Bye guys"

Elizabeth ran up to her room, closed her door and laid on her bed. Finally he was gone. Finally she was alone. Who did he think he was anyway? Casanova? Did he think his kisses would turn her upside down, full of mixed feelings for him? If that's what he thought he was wrong. She thought. Dead wrong.

"-Then why can't I stop thinking about it? She asked out loud. Why can't I stop feeling his lips on mine? He knew he would get to me. He knew I wanted him to kiss me, and now he probably thinks I want him to kiss me again, to hold me again."

God was he right!
