Elizabeth kicked the flat tire and threw her hands in the air. She was waited for at the next town, but now she would never get there! Her private tutor entered her into a contest about her writing and she won. She wrote some poems and she was in the three finalist from Port Charles invited to the National Final and it was tomorrow! Now, on this little country road, in the middle of nowhere, she would never find a car to take her there, and her cell phone battery was dead!
For the first time in her life, she had actually won something academically and she wouldn't even be able to show it off. Her grades had significantly improved ever since she had a private tutor. Granted she still wasn't a straight A student, but her average was above C+ and that was an improvement! Her poems won, for her style and grammar, but how was she supposed to go kick the butts of the other students if she wasn't able to DRIVE up there with her latest work?
Elizabeth saw a car run up and sighed of relief. Maybe they would accept to drive her to the nearest pay phone for her to call a tow truck, or, do it if they didn't have room for her in the car. She waved at the driver, and the car stop just in front of hers. She ran to the driver's side window and waited for the person to roll it down.
"-Well, well, well, if it isn't the Cassadine damsel. Said Lucky with a smile,
and she is distress no less.
-Carry on Spencer, I don't need your hellp.
-Looks to me like you do, Lucky said, geetting out of the car. What's the
problem
-A flat tire. Already called a tow trucck, you can go now.
-Oh you called a tow truck. That's why you were in the middle of the road
waving your arms like you were trying to fly?
-Ok, ok, my cell phone is dead. Would yyou be kind enough and call one at the
next pay phone?
-A Cassadine? Asking a Spencer for helpp? My, you really are in distress.
-Ok smarty pants, forget it, I can find someone else to call the tow truck
-Relax. Hop on, we'll call it together,, Lucky said, getting in his car.
-I'm not going anywhere with you!
-Oh well, he said, sitting on the hood oof the car
-What are you doing?
-Well, you may be a Cassadine, but theree is no way I am letting you here,
alone, in the middle of nowhere.
-I've been taking care of myself foreverr, I don't need you!"
Elizabeth went by her car, and sat behind the wheel, putting her head on it. She stayed like that for a while, before putting her head up again, only to see Lucky, sitting on the trunk of his car, smiling. He waved at her and she got mad. He wouldn't leave! She got out of the car, locked the doors and walked up to him.
"-Ok, let's go, she said
-Lead the way mademoiselle"
She sat on the passenger seat, and stared at the windshield. She was so mad at herself for accepting to go with him, but he wouldn't leave anyway. If there was one thing she was sure about the Spencers, it was that they were stubborn. Lucky was whistling the song played on the radio, while his fingers were drumming on the steering wheel. He was glancing at Elizabeth from the corner of his right eye, smiling at the sight she was giving him. Her jaw was tightly closed. She was so mad, but so beautiful. He thought every single word of what he told her in the kitchen a few days ago. She was beautiful, but disturbing to his mental health.
"-So, where were you headed? Asked Lucky
-Maurier. I'm supposed to be there tomoorrow morning, and, from the looks of
it, I'll be exhausted getting there
-Maurier? What are you looking for in MMaurier? Asked Lucky, leaving the road
with his eyes for a second
-I won a literature contest. I'm one off the three Port Charles finalist.
-Really, that's funny
-Why is that? She asked, looking at himm
-Because I'm on of the other two"
Elizabeth choke when she tried to swallow, getting Lucky to laugh.
"-You've got to be kidding me! Elizabeth said, mad
-No, look in my bag on the backseat, youu'll find my letter"
Elizabeth passed a nervous hand in her hair. Being in competition against the whole country and losing was one thing, being in competition with a Spencer and losing to HIM was another. She was hearing him slowly chuckle, when she punched him on the shoulder. She would NOT be laughed at.
"-What was that for? Asked Lucky
-Laughing at me!
-Hey lady, he said, looking at her, giviing you a ride is one thing, getting
punched while I'm doing it is another. I don't mind hitting a woman you know
-Lucky watch out!
-Why? You'll send your brother after mee?
-NO I MEAN WATCH OUT, YOU ARE GETTING OUUT OF THE ROAD!"
Lucky's eyes left Elizabeth long enough to see that his car had slipped out of the road and it was to late to bring it back on it. Lucky cursed out loud, then turned around and apologized to Elizabeth. He tried to get the car back on the road, but the only thing he was doing was getting it more stuck in the ice.
"-Great, that's just great! Said Elizabeth before getting out of the car"
She went on the back of the trunk and started pushing, but Lucky got out and told her to stop, that she would only hurt herself. They heard the car couch a couple of times and then it died. Lucky laughed at the situation, but Elizabeth was far from amused.
‘-Now what do we do? She asked
-Well, either we sit in the car and waitt for help, all that while we freeze to
death, Lucky answered, shivering from the cold wind, or we go in this old barn
over there and wait for morning.
-Oh yeah like I'm really gonna go and bee alone with you in a barn!
-Suit yourself, all I know is that I'm nnot staying out in the cold"
Lucky started walking towards the barn, leaving Elizabeth by the trunk of his car. He knew she would follow him soon enough. She wouldn't stay there, all alone in the middle of nowhere at this time of the evening. He smiled when he heard footsteps behind his own. Arriving at the door, Lucky saw it was locked, but opened it with a kick. Inside it was dark and cold, but at least away from the wind. Lucky found the light switch, flicked it on, and sighed of relief when he saw the barn filled with electrical sunlight. Lucky looked around, to be sure no wildlife was in sight, in case, with their luck, the light went off. Everything seemed normal, and he heard a noise behind him. Elizabeth walked in, her shoulders full of snow. Lucky looked behind her and saw it was snowing like crazy outside. Good thing they didn't have to stay in the car, or they would've been dead by morning. Lucky closed the door and kept it shut with a haystack.
"-This is all your fault! Elizabeth shouted
-MINE? Lucky answered
-Yeah, if you had kept your eyes on the road like you are supposed to, this
wouldn't have happened!
-Do I have to remind you that you are thhe one who started it by hitting me?
-Oh like my little shove on your pretty little shoulder prevented you from
keeping your eyes where it should've been, ON THE ROAD!"
Lucky lifted his arms in the air, and started to laugh. This was too much. Of all the people in this stinking world, he had to be stranded with a Cassadine. The most beautiful one of all, no less.
"-I don't think that's funny! Elizabeth said, mad at the fact that he was
laughing
-Oh shut up for a second will ya?
-Who's gonna make me?
-I am!"
Lucky quickly moved to her side and took possession of her mouth in a fierce kiss, leaving her breathless.
