"-Well, you know Cowboy, if you really like this girl I say move on it. I
mean, who could resist the Spencer charm right?
-She can. She has been pushing me awayy ever since we met.
-Do I know her?
-Yeah you do. Not personally, but you met her once or twice.
-Who is she?
-Elizabeth Cassadine."
Lucky saw the color leaving his father's face. Lucky knew this would be the reaction he would get from Luke. After all, Cassadine was the ugliest word in the Spencers' dictionary. Luke took a sip of coffee, before putting his eyes on his boy again.
"-Lucky listen to me. You cannot get involved with her. That is not possible.
Let it be.
-Why not? Why can't Elizabeth and I haave something? I mean, this
Cassadine/Spencer feud has been going on for how long now? 20 years? Don't
you think it's about time it stops?
-No I don't! Lucky, Cassadines can nott be trusted, even more so the ones with
cute eyes and bodies to die for. They are poison! Don't you know that by now?
Did you forget what they did to your grandmother? That they kidnapped your
mother and kept her for 2 years on that God forsaken island?
-So what? It has nothing to do with Ellizabeth and I dad. This was mom. I
wasn't even born when it happened. Why should I pay for mistakes you guys
made. And besides, from their point of views, we're the bad guys. I mean, you
killed Stavros. It was a accident but he's dead nonetheless.
-Lucky, I've always been quite open witth you haven't I? I let you do your own
choices, make your own decisions, but this is over your head. And if you force
me to it, I will put my foot down boy, even if it means locking you up in your
room to prevent you from seeing her. Have I made myself clear?"
Lucky didn't answer, he just laid back on the chair. This could not be happening. Finally, Elizabeth passed her "Cassadine pride" last night and kissed him. Lucky had been walking on a cloud ever since. But his dad made himself clear. He would make good on his threats, even if it meant moving his son to another town. Luke would never accept a Spencer/Cassadine alliance.
Luke took another cup of coffee, watching his son. Everyone in Kelly's could hear the boy's brain going a million miles an hour. But Luke would keep him from getting mixed with the Cassadine, even if the girl didn't get raised by them, it was still in her blood. The restaurant door opened, letting Elizabeth and Sarah walk in. Lucky watched them sit down, and he waved at them, knowing his father would shoot him if he went over and say hello. His heart stopped when Sarah was the only one to wave back. Elizabeth just looked at him, not even smiling, before looking away again.
"-I see it is not hard for her to let go, said Luke, while Lucky killed him with a look. Remember what I said."
Luke went on the other side of the counter and left the restaurant, greetings Sarah has he passed by her. Lucky decided to go over his father's warning, and walked up to the table. He just had to say hello, then he would walk out of the restaurant. It was that simple.
"-Hello Sarah, hi Elizabeth, he said, putting both his hands on the back of an
empty chair.
-Hi Lucky, how are you today? Asked Sarrah, as Elizabeth stayed silent.
-I'm good, still a little rusty from alll that dancing last night though, he
said with a smile
-Sarah, I'll see you later, said Elizabbeth, as she ran out of the restaurant.
-Excuse me will you?"
Lucky left Sarah and ran after the girl. He caught up with her at the docks, and she jumped when she felt his hand on her shoulder.
"-Elizabeth wait a second, he said, catching his breath. What's the matter,
can't you even say hello?
-Lucky, leave me alone OK?
-Hey, what did I do now? I thought we were at least friends after yesterday.
-Friends? You think we're friends? Shhe said in a little laugh, turning around
to look at him. I'm sorry, but I never heard of friends telling the girl's
brother they f*cked her, making her pass for an easy tramp!
-Wait a minute! I'll have you know thaat I tried again and again to talk to you
and Nikolas about that and apologize. It didn't seem to matter to you
yesterday, right here though did it?
-Sorry about that, I guess I was "caughht in the moment" she answered,
sarcastically.
-I don't understand you. YOU were the one practically begging Emily to invite
you with us.
-Excuse me? Begging?
-Yes! She said you were jealous of herr
-WHAT? I was jealous all right, of YOUU! I wanted to go out and have fun with
my friend Emily, but we had to drag YOU along"
Elizabeth left Lucky, while she got into the boat. She looked at him, standing on the docks, and finally let the tears she was holding back since yesterday fall down her cheeks. She looked at the ghost of Windermere and whispered "There you go Father, I hope you are happy".
When Charles dropped her off, Stefan was waiting for her. He wanted to know how her night had turned. She told him she had fun with Emily, knowing he would be mad if he knew Lucky was there too. Elizabeth went in her room to think about how wonderful it felt to be in Lucky's arms again, dancing with him, listening to him sing in her ear, when she heard a knock on her door. She opened it, thinking she would find Nikolas asking about Emily, but it was her father, his jaw tightly closed. She knew he knew. Without asking her permission he got in the room and stood in the middle of it.
"-Charles told me Lucky Spencer was with you on the docks tonight. What was he
doing there?
-We bumped into him at the dance, and hhe dropped Emily and I off. He didn't
want to leave me on the docks alone at this time of night, so he waited with
me. What's the big deal?
-The big deal, Elizabeth, is that you kknow better than to spend time with a
Spencer! Stefan said, raising his voice.
-I told you he just dropped me off
-So that's why you thanked him with a kkiss? Elizabeth's color left her face.
Yes, Charles told me about that too. Now, I thought you would have enough
common sense for me not to remind you of everything the Spencers did to this
family.
-Lucky didn't do anything. It's not hiis fault his father's a criminal!
Elizabeth answered, desperate.
-You will NOT answer me! Spencers are dangerous Elizabeth. Your brother knows
it, that is why he stays away from them, and I want the same from you.
-Father, as much as I love you, and as much as I know everything you have
endured because of Lucky's family, I am not you. I am not Nikolas. Lucky's
not Luke. It is not his fault the woman you love chose his father. Why are
you rejecting this on him?
-Lucky Spencer is as dangerous as his ffather Elizabeth. Stay away from him.
It is not an warning. It's an order!"
Without sating anything else, Stefan left the girl's room. She slammed her door, laid on her bed, and kept saying "I will not cry" over and over again, until she fell asleep. This morning, at breakfast, Stefan did not say anything other than "remember what I said". Sarah called her and asked her to meet for lunch, and Elizabeth was happy to have something else to do than sit around and mope. She never thought she would run into Lucky so quickly after the confrontation she had with her father. Now, on the boat, taking her back to her golden cage, she felt the cold tears of desperation and pain slip away from her eyes, as she saw her heart go with Lucky walking away from the docks.
"-That's just unfair! She said, out loud, getting Charles to look at her. Don't mind me Charles, I'm taking to myself again. "
Arriving at Windermere, Elizabeth saw Nikolas at the door. Without saying anything to him she wiped her tears and ran downstairs, ignoring his calls. She laid on her bed, took her pillow in her arms and started crying again. For the first time in her life, she had something good. A family. And, also for the first time in her life, she was in love. But the she couldn't have the two at the same time. She had to decided. Her love for her father and brother, or her love for Lucky. Even though the choice was easy, the choice was hurting. She had to give up Lucky. For ever.
