Chapter 15

"-Lucky get up, we're in the middle of the street! Elizabeth said, embarrassed.

-Not before you answer my question.

-Well can I at least think about it?

-Think? I can live with that! He said, getting up"

Lucky looked in the car and saw Emily and Nikolas staring at them and he laughed. How could he do that, in the middle of the street, without even thinking about it? He felt like such a fool.

Elizabeth went back in the car, still in shock. Did he just ask her to marry him? What would she say? Was she ready to get married? Even if it was to Lucky? Marriage life implied intimacy. Was she ready?

Remembering the night she spent with Lucky a couple of days ago, she blushed violently. She wasn't mad about it, after all, "she" wanted it, but now, having her memory back, she didn't know if she'd have the courage to do it again.

At Lucky's, the teens argued about who would take the bed and who would take the floor. Lucky gave the bed to Nikolas and Emily, and took the floor with Elizabeth. It was nearly 5 in the morning when they finally laid down to sleep.

"-Elizabeth, why don't you tell us how you got your memory back, said Emily, unable to sleep

-Well, I was sitting on the couch, waiting for Lucky and getting mad because he was late, when they said there was a fire at the prison. I listened a little until I heard a name that I knew. Tom Baker. All of a sudden, I remembered everything. Just like that.

-WOW, said Emily, that must have been weird

-It was because I didn't lose nothing of what happened after the accident either, answered Elizabeth, looking at Lucky, blushing"

He smiled back at her and everyone said good-night for the thousandth time. Nikolas and Emily's breaths were slow, indicating they finally fell asleep. Lucky turned around, facing Elizabeth's back, and put his arm around her waist. He jumped when she talked. He was sure she was asleep.

"-Now that I think about it, you stole something from me tonight, she said

-What?

-My engagement ring

-Come again?"

Lucky wasn't sure if he heard right. Did it mean...

"-When you asked me to marry you, you had a ring in your hand, but you took it back, that mean you stole it from me.

-You mean...

-Yes Lucky, I'll marry you, Elizabeth answered, turning around, smiling. God you are clueless tonight aren't you?"

Lucky laughed and kissed her gently. They were getting married. THEY WERE GETTING MARRIED???? Lucky quickly got up. He didn't even know where to start! But he was way to excited to sleep now! Elizabeth looked at him and shook her head. She was so tired, and he wanted to talk about making plans?

"-Lucky, we'll talk about it after I got some sleep, I promise

-OK, but just tell me when. Please?

-I don't care, as long as it's with you, I could get married tomorrow

-Hum, we can't tomorrow, it takes a week to get a marriage license. What about on your birthday? Or the next Saturday?

-That would be great. Let's talk about it after we got some sleep ok?

-I love you

-I love you too"

But Lucky didn't sleep. He made a list of things to do, people to see, stuff to buy, people to invite, reservations to make. Nikolas got up first, and looked at his watch. It wasn't even noon yet, and Lucky was already dressed and ready to start the day. He told his brother he didn't sleep at all, and Nikolas wanted to know why. Lucky told him he would hear it at the same time Emily would.

Elizabeth got up the last, and she kissed Lucky gently. Emily said that something was different between the two of them. Elizabeth just laughed, and Lucky took her hand. Nikolas said they were waiting for them to talk and Lucky laughed with Elizabeth.

"-Well, I may need you Nikolas. Said Lucky

-Need me? For what?

-Well, I need a best man don't I?"

Nikolas was speechless. Emily squealed, took Elizabeth in her arms and the girls were jumping up and down. Lucky was laughing at them, saying they were acting like kids, not the "adults" they were, and the girls just showed their tongues at the same time.

Elizabeth and Lucky were gone in the preparation for the wedding, with the help of Nikolas and Emily. Audrey was glad Liz was having her memory back, but she wasn't about the wedding. Laura too, was mad about it. She had asked Lucky how he would support his family, and would they stay in his apartment over the garage?

Lucky didn't have the answers yet, but he was looking. One thing he knew was that he didn't want Elizabeth to live in his little apartment. He only had one more week to find something else for them. The wedding was only a couple of days away.

Elizabeth and Emily had been shopping for her wedding gown, the maid of honor dress, which was Emily, the flower girl dress, for Lesley Lu, and the ring bearer costume, for Lucas. Everything was ready. Lucky and Nikolas' tuxes were ready, the church was waiting, the PC grill had their reservation for the party.

Elizabeth was sitting on her bed, thinking. She still couldn't believe she was getting married the next day. Her birthday came and went 2 days ago, and now, in less than 24 hours, she would be Mrs. Lucas Lorenzo Spencer Jr. Lucky was spending the night alone in their new apartment. He rented a small apartment near the hospital. It wasn't much but at least it was their home. Jason gave him more job at the bike shop, and he was sometimes working at Luke's club with his father. Everything would be OK.

She heard a noise at her window, and she saw Lucky asking her to open it.

"-Lucky, what are you doing here? It's bad luck for the couple to see each other 24 hours before the wedding.

-I don't believe in that hocus pocus stuff. I just had to see you before tomorrow. One last time as my girlfriend.

-OK, you saw me, now go! She said, smiling at him

-Ok, one kiss and I'm outta here

-NO WAY! Maybe you don't believe in that stuff but I do, now scram. I'll see you tomorrow!

-Can you believe you'll be Mrs. Lucky Spencer at this time tomorrow?

-Scary isn't it?

-Thanks a lot!

-No I mean, we are bad enough now, imagine how it will be when we are man and wife! The town will blow!"

Lucky laughed and touched her cheek, wishing her good-night. Elizabeth sat back on her bed, smiling. She loved him so much, what would she do without him? At this very thought, she heard a car breaking suddenly and a big thud. She rushed to the window, having a really bad feeling.

She saw Lucky, lying in the street in a pool of blood. She yelled to Sarah to call 9-1-1, and rushed down to him. He was still conscious, but in a great deal of pain. His eyes lighten up when he saw Elizabeth. The girl yelled to the driver to get away from him, and she got on her knees.

"-I should've listened to you, you were right, it was bad luck, Lucky said, smiling at her."

His face was full of blood and Elizabeth's eyes became full of tears. He coughed and Elizabeth panicked at the amount of blood coming out of his mouth.

"-Lucky, stay with me here, look at me Lucky, don't close your eyes, please. Help is on its way, so stay awake OK? Do this for me please

-You are so beautiful. I never told you this, but I've loved you since the moment I saw you, outside Kelly's, with a cigarette in your hand. He said, his voice barely a whisper

-I've loved you from the start too. And can you believe tomorrow is our wedding day? We met two years ago and we are getting married. I always dreamed of marrying you, and now it's coming true. Elizabeth saw Lucky's eyes closing. Stay with me baby, open your eyes come on.

-I'm so cold and tired, Lucky whispered. I'll just rest my eyes for a second"

Elizabeth saw the love of her life close his eyes, and she noticed he wasn't breathing anymore. Crying, she leaned down and gave him the kissed she refused him only minutes ago. She didn't hear the sirens in the night, nor did she feel someone taking her by the shoulders to get her out of the way.
