CHAPTER 2

God she was nervous. Lucky would be there any minute now to pick her up. This would be the first time her father would meet Lucky, after she had been dating him for 5 months now, and she had to pick tonight, of all nights, to make the presentations. Robert was in the living room, smoking his cigar, reading his paper, while his daughter was a nervous wreck. Just for the occasion she had bought a short, black dress, and her hair was up. She nearly had no make up on, Lucky didn’t like that much. He said she was already so beautiful he was afraid to lose her if she embellished herself more.

He had asked her to be his girl they were at the hill. He had parked his truck backwards and they were laying in the trunk, looking at the stars. They were holding hands, and Lucky took her head in his hands, before he kissed her gently.

"-You know, I really like spending time with you, he said

-I like that too. I feel good in your arms

-I was wondering if you’d only let these arms hold you. These lips kiss you, this heart love you"

Kiara thought she would die right there. She kissed him, whispering "yes" against his lips.

That was a month ago, not long after she waited for him by the intersection. Now, her father wanted to meet him and the only way she could go tonight was to have Lucky pick her up at the house. She gave in. There was no way she would pass out on their prom night, the most wonderful night of their young lives.

Finally, after what it seemed like forever, the doorbell rang and Robert got up from the couch. She saw him wipe his hands on his pants and smiled at her.

"-Now, remember dad--

-I promise, I won’t be too harsh.

-Thanks."

Kiara opened the door and was stunned by what she saw. Lucky, in a tux, sunglasses, and a corsage in his hands. He took his sunglasses out and smiled at her. She made him come in and closed the door.

"-You look beautiful. This is for you. Lucky said, giving her the corsage

-Thank you. You look so handsome. Oh dad, this is Lucas. Lucas, my dad Robert.

-Pleasure to meet you sir, Kiara talks so much about you

-It’s a shame I can’t say the same about you.

-Dad--

-What? It’s true, you haven’t talked to me about him before he asked you to the prom. Anyhow, pleased to meet you son"

They shook hands and stared at each other. Kiara was growing nervous, and she knew Lucky wanted to die. Finally, Robert took his camera and placed them in front of the fireplace to take pictures.

"-You be here by midnight. Robert said

-Midnight? Dad it’s the prom!

-Midnight Kiara. Lucas, have her back by midnight, not one minute past

-No problem sir, whatever you wish."

Kiara opened the door and walked out, without saying bye to her father. Sometimes she just hated him. Like tonight. Why couldn’t accept she was a grown woman? She was almost 18 for God sakes! Lucky took her hand and kissed it through her glove. They started to walk towards the sidewalk and Kiara saw the biggest limousine.

"-Lucky! You didn’t have to do that, it must have cost you a fortune!

-Actually it didn’t. Prom gift from my step-father. He said I could use it for the whole week-end. He’s ok, most of the time. Come on"

the chauffeur opened the door and Kiara got in first, followed by Lucky. He sat next to her and smiled at her. This would be the perfect night of all. Their last high school dance, their last high school event. Lucky took her hand and the glass separating the front from the back lowered.

"-Where to Mr. Spencer?

-Port Charles grill.

-Lucky no, that’s like the most expensive restaurant in town.

-Only the best for my princess. Besides, my step-father is paying for everything tonight and I intend to use as much of his money as I can"

Kiara laughed and kissed him, as the glass rolled up again. Lucky turned to her and she stared into his beautiful blue eyes. Kiara’s father had the same blue eyes, deep, and warm, kind of eyes you just wanted to drown yourself in them. Lucky told her again how beautiful she was, and she shut him up with a kiss. He was starting to embarrass her.

They talked about everything over dinner. School, future, lost love, childhood memories. Lucky told her about his ex, the one who broke his heart. He had been going out with her for nearly a year, when she left him without an explanation. Lucky said he was happy she did though, it made him meet the real love of his life, Kiara.

They arrived to the school gym the dance had just started. They sat with a couple of mutual friends and Kiara was looking in the crowd for Lucky’s ex. She wasn’t there. She probably went out with his brother. The one she broke up with Lucky to be with.

Kiara had heard all about Lucky got dumped for his own brother. His half-brother. It had been all over school for quite some time. That was why she was so surprised when Lucky asked her out a couple of month ago. Let’s face it, she couldn’t compare to his ex, who was smart, pretty, sophisticated. Kiara was plain, ordinary, average kinda girl. But if Lucky wanted to be with her, there was nothing she could do to prevent that. Not that she wanted to.

"-Wanna dance?"

Lucky took her hand before she had time to answer and led her to the dance floor. He wrapped his arm around her waist and held her close, smelling the sent of her hair. The music started and he put his cheek against Kiara’s. He slowly started to sing, he just loved that song, and every time he heard it, he thought about the woman in his arms right now.

"I hope the man upstairs isn't mad at me,

'Cause I have one of his angels

And she's here with me.

Each time I see her precious smile,

And she spreads her wings,

It takes me to a place where love meets eternity.

Oh no,

I'm not letting go,

I don't want to be alone

In this crazy world.

Oh Lord,

I love her so,

And I'll sacrifice it all to have her

In my life.

I found my girl,

I'll tell the world,

That heaven is missing an angel.

My dreams came true,

When I found you,

Yes, heaven is missing an angel.

Not a day goes by that I don't thank God for you.

He blessed me with my angel,

Though I don't deserve you.

Before I met you girl,

Lonely was my best friend.

Now that you are in my life

I am stronger within.

I can't wait to kiss my angel late at night,

And watch her go to sleep,

Until I see her rise,

I found my girl,

I'll tell the world,

That heaven is missing an angel.

My dreams came true,

When I found you,

Yes, heaven is missing an angel.

All that I do is for you,

Me without you girl just won't do.

Your love's all I want to know,

Angel don't you ever go,

Life won't be the same without you."

Lucky gently kissed her as the song ended. Kiara felt as if she was flying. He held her close all night, never dancing with anyone but her, whispering sweet nothing in her ear, making sure she knew how beautiful she was.

They were sitting in the limousine, talking about everything and nothing, when Kiara looked at her watch.

"-I better go in, the limo turns into a pumpkin at midnight

-I’ll walk you to your door"

Lucky held her close again to kiss her good-night, telling her he would call her first thing in the morning. When he tried to leave she hung on to his arm, pulling him close again. Her lips met his, and his arms locked around her waist.

"-I love you Kiara Jackson. Today, forever

-I love you too, Lucky Spencer. Today, forever"

Kiara opened the door and came face to face with Robert. She smiled at him and went to kiss him on the cheek, her hands on his shoulders, but he took her wrists in his.

"-You will never see that boy again, you hear me?"
