CHAPTER 24

Lucky was lying awake, next to Liz. They had just made love, and he was still feeling the warmth of her skin on his. He was listening to her breathing, regular and slow. She was peacefully sleeping. It was the only sound in the house, and Lucky thought of it as his lullaby. The evening at Luke's had been a complete success. He just loved surprising Elizabeth like that. The only downside was the she passed the evening sitting next to her sister. More the time passed, less Lucky was liking Sarah. The looks she was giving Lucky made him uneasy. She didn't even disguised her feelings anymore. She wanted him and let it show. Sure he was flattered, but he wasn't kidding himself. Sarah wanted him just because he was Elizabeth's. Sarah couldn't stand the thought of her sister having something she didn't. Well, she can always run he thought, I'm with Elizabeth to stay.

Lucky changed position. He couldn't sleep. Looking at his pregnant wife he smiled. She looked so peaceful, so beautiful. For the zillionth time since he kissed her for the first time he wondered how an amazing girl like her could fall for a simple, everyday guy like him. He didn't have nothing to offer her, didn't have enough money to spoil her with jewelry, expensive diner restaurant, big house, the life he thought she deserves. She was a princess and deserved to be treated a such. The only thing he was offering was his heart, his love, his soul. Why she chose to be with him was a mystery, but he wasn't dumb enough to play the "I'm not good enough for you" act. If she was dumb enough to love him even if he couldn't give her everything she wanted and deserved, too bad for her, she was stuck with him.

Elizabeth loved him. HIM! He smiled at the thought. If someone had told him he would fall head over heels in love with Elizabeth the first couple of times he saw her, that person would've had his face rearranged. She was too wild for him. Something was always getting him back to her though. Fate? Probably. He remembered the time he got in a car with her to save Sarah's "virtue", like a knight in a shiny armor. Now, he couldn't care less who she was sleeping with. The only thing that mattered was that Elizabeth was sleeping with him, and him only. The thought of losing her was an ever- lasting pain in his heart. He wouldn't play the "I'm not good enough" act, but he was sure that, one day, Elizabeth would realize it on her own, and leave him again, for the third time, his heart and soul bleeding to death.

He heard her talk in her sleep. She was talking to the babies, he just knew it. He heard her say "Lucas Lorenzo Spencer III, you come back here this minute". Her voice was just a whisper, but Lucky was carefully listening to what she had to say. They didn't talk about naming the babies, even when they thought there was just one. They had decided to wait until they saw the little baby's face and say the first name that came to mind but now, listening to her rambling in her sleep, her subconscious telling him that she wanted their son to be named after Luke and him. That would be done. The next thing she said was something like Laura. It didn't quite was Laura, but then he heard it again. Lori. Lori Audrey. He fell in love with the name right then and there. Their daughter's name would be Lori Audrey. The boy would've have his grandfather's name, and the girl, a clone of her grandmother's name. Elizabeth probably gave Audrey's name to the girl because she missed her so much.

Lucky looked at the time. 4:35 am. He wanted to get some sleep, but every time he closed his eyes, other thoughts came running through his mind, and he opened them again. He had heard Laura two days ago scaring Elizabeth to death, telling her that one day Lucky would take off, leaving her, Lucas and Lori behind. Never. He was NOTLuke. He wouldn't walk away from his family because of a problem. Granted he was not perfect, even far from it, but he knew better than to leave his wife and children behind for a stupidity. No matter what the problems would be, leaving would be stupid. He was not about to leave his family and home because he was a coward. He was not. Lucky would give his life for Liz and the kids, and he would not leave them behind. If, for some reason he had to run, his family would run with him. He would prove Laura wrong. He wasn't like her either. She said he was like Luke but she was the one leaving Nikolas behind, for years. The next day his son and daughter would leave the house to live their own lives, would be the first day they would spend without Lucky.

Elizabeth turned around, facing him. She put her arm around his waist, putting her head on his chest. He started stroking her hair. She was an angel. His angel. God was trusting him with one of his own, and he would not mess it up, no matter how many people was waiting for him to do so. He may be young, but he was not stupid and he knew that, even he spent the rest of his life looking, there was only one woman in the world who could make him feel the way he was right now, and that woman was resting her head on his chest. He kissed her gently on the lips, and finally fell asleep.

Elizabeth woke up and looked at the time. 8:45 am. She was lying her head on Lucky's chest, her face going up and down as he breathed. He was slowly snoring, and she smiled. She had felt him tossing and turning all night. Something was bothering him, and she didn't know what. She didn't know that he had spent the night thinking about how much he was in love with her. Elizabeth got up, carefully not to wake him up and took a shower. This was the moment of the day she loved the most. When water was running on her belly, rubbing it with the soap. That was maybe stupid to others, but this was the moment she was feeling the closest to the twins. The twins. Two perfect reproduction of Lucky and her. Lucky and Elizabeth Spencer. LES. That would be the name of their daughter. That way, she would have both her parent's names and she would be called like her great-grandmother.

She quickly dried herself up, and went downstairs. Again, she was surprise not to find Audrey there. She was reading the morning paper, drinking a glass of orange juice, when the doorbell rang. Who could this be at this hour in the morning? She thought.

When she opened the door, she came face to face with a really big guy. He was at least 6'5" tall, and was a little overweight. His hair was cut short, army-like. The stranger smiled at her, looked at her belly and said;

"-I see the kid works fast. You must be Mrs. Elizabeth Spencer?

-Yes and you are?

-I'm Wally Marshall Ma'am

-Oh Hi Wally, I've heard so much about you, please, come in. I was just preparing myself some breakfast, wanna join me?

-Well, if that's not too much trouble, I'd like that very much"

She made him an omelet, even after he said a toast would be fine. He was asking about her pregnancy, her life with "the kid", the University and everything else. Elizabeth could see how much Wally cared for Lucky. He loved him like a son. Wally talked about how he met Luke Spencer and the tyke. Lucky was not even 3 years old at that time. He was the one who helped them move every time they had to.

"-I want to thank you for what you did for me. About Tom Baker, she said

-Cowboy told you about that?

-Didn't have a choice. Either that or lose his masculinity.

-I like you, Wally said, laughing. He must he really happy with you

-I'd like to think he is yeah. But I aam happy with him. And these guys will be too"

Wally took her hand cross the table and squeezed it gently. Normally Elizabeth would've been terrified. Her, alone, with a guy 8 times bigger than she was. But is was not scared, not with Wally. He was like a big teddy bear. He looked like a killer, and had deep voice, but a heart of gold.

Elizabeth heard walking upstairs and smiled. Lucky would have the surprise of his life. The Spencers knew that they would see him this summer, but to see him showing up like that, unannounced, Lucky would go ballistic. He came downstairs dressed, but his hair was not combed. Lucky didn't see Wally yet but he heard;

"-Haven't I teach you that in the presence of a lady you comb your hair?"

Lucky looked up and saw this giant sitting at his kitchen table, one hand holding Elizabeth's. Lucky looked at Wally and started walking towards him, mad.

"-Get your hands off of my woman! He said, standing only feet away from Wally

-Who's gonna make me? Wally asked, gettting up

-I am! Lucky said while shoving him

> -Guys....said Elizabeth

-You don't scare me punk! Said Wally, shoving him back

-Oh that's it! Lucky said, jumping on Wally"

Elizabeth shouted NO! Before she saw that Lucky had landed in the middle of Wally's chest and that the giant was holding him tightly. Liz heard hands clapping in the backs, and Wally put Lucky down not before he said softly;

"-God I missed you kid

-I missed you too Wally. It was about time you got out."

While the two men started talking Elizabeth prepared Lucky's breakfast. Wally was looking at Elizabeth, while she was cooking and slapped Lucky's head.

"-Hey you jerk, what was that for? He asked, putting his hand where he got hurt

-You let your pregnant wife fix you breeakfast? Fix it yourself

-Wally, she's pregnant, not sick! A wwoman's place is in the kitchen anyway. He said, before getting hit again by Liz's wooden spoon.

-What will be the babies names? Wally asked.

-Lucas Lorenzo Spencer III for the boy,, said Lucky

- And Leslie for the girl, said Elizabeeth

-LESLIE? Asked Lucky, No way! Why Lesslie?

-First, your grandmother, second, your sister.

-Then why not Audrey Sarah? He said wiith a smile

-YUCK!

-Then I have the perfect name. Lori. Lori Audrey Spencer.

-I like it, said Wally

-I like it too, said Liz, but in your ffamily, middle names starts by L

-So what? Why did you wanted Les so muuch?

-it's silly, she said, looking at Wallyy

-Hey, he's a member of my family honey,, don't worry. Said Lucky

-Well it was for the child of Lucky Eliizabeth Spencer. LES

-I love it! Lucky said. That'll be thhe nickname of Lucas.

-But why did you pick Lori Audrey? Askked Wally

-Well, last night, Elizabeth was dreamiing and she was talking and she was talking to the twins I'm sure and she said Lori. At first I understood Laura, but she said it again Lori Audrey. I thought it was perfect. The boy had the name of his grandfather and the girl, the clone name of her grandmother. And Audrey, well, it's for Audrey. I don't care about the L middle name tradition."

Wally got up and took the two kids in his arms. As long as he was going to live, he was going to protect them. No matter where, no matter why, no matter what. Lucky, Liz, Lori and Les were now the priority in his life. Never had children, ne now did.

Lucky smiled at him. The boy knew what his friend was thinking and, with that smile, he just gave him his blessing. Everything would be fine with Wally around.

Everything.
