CHAPTER 28

Elizabeth took Lucky and held him like there was no tomorrow. Lucky felt the desperation in her embrace and kept saying;

"-It's okay baby, I'm right here, I'm not going anywhere"

Elizabeth looked at him, putting her hand on his cheek, like she still couldn't believe he was there besides her. The dream was so real that, for a time, she didn't know where she was, but it all came back to her. She was at the hospital, she just gave birth to the twins.

"-Are the babies all right? She asked, concerned

-Of course they are. What's wrong Honeyy? Had a bad dream?"

Elizabeth told him everything that happened in her dream. Lucky was shocked. He would never put her or the babies in that kind of danger. His job for Jason was to run errands, nothing else. Lucky didn't want to turn out like his father, having his family always on the run. Elizabeth smiled at him. She was feeling silly, but she was still pretty shaken by the whole thing. Few moments later, the nurse came in with Lucas. It was time for his meal, and Elizabeth was supposed to give it to him for the first time. Lucky sat next to the bed and watched his wife. She knew what to do, exactly what to do. It was as if she did it her whole life. Elizabeth was giving the boy his bottle, and was looking at him, smiling. Lucky thought it was the most beautiful picture he had ever seen.

That evening, the young parents were swamped by visitors. Nikolas was the first one, with Emily. Lucky asked them to be Lucas' Godparents. After all, there was no one in this world Elizabeth and Lucky trusted more. Nikolas and Emily accepted right away, honored by the Spencers' request. After them, Luke, Laura, Bobbie, Carly and Jason came. Lucky's boss had brought a huge teddy bear for Lori, and a train set for Lucas. Full of pictures were taken, and full of smiled were exchanged. When the family finally left, Elizabeth was tired. Lucky told her he would come back in the morning. He needed some sleep too, and he wanted to put the twins' rooms up. This would be Elizabeth's surprise.

Lucky worked all night, helped by his brother and by his cousin Sly. The guys finally went to bed when the sun came up, and Lucky was up before 9. He wanted to go back to the hospital as soon as possible. He entered Elizabeth's room with a big flower bouquet, and kissed her good morning. She was with Lori. Lucas was in a little bed, next to his mom's. Lucky picked his son up, and sat on the chair. Nobody said anything for a while, just enjoying the moment. They knew a lot of people would come and see them that day. Greg and Melissa were on their way, and Sonny was supposed to stop by.

As if someone read their thoughts, the door opened and Wally came in. The babies were looking so minuscule in the giant's arms. Lucky, looking at his old friend shed a tear, asked him if he would do them the honor to be Lori's Godfather. Wally was babbling, saying he was too old to be a Godfather but Lucky insisted and Wally finally said yes. They had planned on asking Sarah to be the Godmother but, after everything that went down, they decided not to. Now they needed a Godmother for the baby girl. Elizabeth said, with a smile, that the next woman to come through the door would be the baby's Godmother. She never thought, not in a million years, that it would be her old friend Kerry. Elizabeth's mouth nearly dropped on the floor!

"-What are you doing here? She asked with a huge smile on her face.

-Well, I called your grandmother's housee and there was no answer, so I called your parents' house and your mother told me you were here. I jumped on a plane and here I am.

-Oh My God!"

Elizabeth held her friend so tightly, Kerry thought she would suffocate. Last time Elizabeth saw her was before she left Connecticut to live with Audrey, 5 years ago. The girls had stayed in touch the first year, but, slowly, they had stopped writing to each other. Now, seeing her in standing there, Elizabeth was so happy. Kerry told her she was looking for her for a while now, when she heard from Sarah. The oldest Webber had told her that Lizzie, her best friend, had gotten married. She just heard about it a couple of weeks ago.

Lucky was sitting in the corner, not saying anything. He saw how much his wife was happy to see her old friend. In fact, other than their mutual friends, he never knew Elizabeth had any friends before him, and he was kinda feeling jealous. Elizabeth and her friend was talking about old times. Lucky's wife didn't even think about introducing him to her friend. She finally thought about it when she heard him move a little from his chair.

"-Lucky, come over here a minute. I'd like you to meet my best friend from Connecticut."

Now he was jealous. HE was her best friend. Had been for 4 years! Lucky got up and went to the bed. Elizabeth had moved over so that her friend could sit next to her, so Lucky just stood at the end of the bed.

"-Kerry, I'd like you to meet my husband, best friend, savior, soul mate, partner in crime, Lucky Spencer. Lucky, meet Kerry Anthony.

-Hi, he just said.

-Hi! You know, Sarah was right, Kerry ssaid, looking at Liz, he is really cute"

Elizabeth smiled at Lucky and he smiled back. He was stupid to feel jealous, after everything she told her friend about him. He shook Kerry's hand, before saying he was going to get something to drink. He offered some, and, after practically begging Kerry to take something, he went to the cafeteria to get it.

"-Lizzie, I still can't believe you are married! I thought you said that guys were like Kleenex, meant to be thrown away after utilization. Kerry said with a laugh

-I know what I said! But Lucky's differrent. Remember how we used to describe the perfect man, saying we would never find it?

-Yeah I'm still looking for him

-Well, I found him. Lucky is so...perfeect. You wouldn't believe everything he did for me. When I first came to town, he was the first one I met. But, naturally, he was mooning over Sarah, little miss perfect. You wouldn't believe everything I did to get his attention!

-Knowing you, I probably would! Kerry rreplied with a laugh. So what made him notice you?

-Well, I was supposed to go to the Valenntine's dance with him, in 1998, but Sarah asked him and he decided to go with her instead

-THE NERVE!

-Anyway, Liz said after she finished lauughing, I never went to the dance, and I got raped in the park. Lucky was the one who found me crawling out of the bushes

-That's awful!

-Not really, because it got me to be cloose to Lucky. Since that day, he never left my side. He was so patient with me, helped me get on my feet again.

-So how did you get married? It's just not your style

-Well, he went away to college, and I coouldn't go. He had a scholarship, I didn't. So he asked me to marry him so I could go, but I refused. Gram saw how miserable I was, so she took a second mortgage on the house. I went to see Lucky and all the rooms at the dorm were already taken so I took an apartment and he moved in with me.

-That is more like you! I was beginningg to think that you got possessed by Sarah's good spirit or something!

-God forbid! Anyway, Gram found out aboout it and she was not happy! She said she would separate us so that night, a friend of ours arranged a meeting with a justice of the peace and we got married.

-That is so romantic!"

Elizabeth smiled at her friend. She told her the rest of the story, how they made love for the first time, the marriage at the church on Christmas eve, how she told him about the twins, the songs he wrote for her, everything. Kerry was just not recognizing her friend. Settling down to one boy, getting married, having kids, that was just NOT Lizzie's style. Lucky must've been pretty amazing to change her that much.

Lucky was waiting outside the room with the sodas. He wanted to give Elizabeth and her friend time to catch up. He looked at his watch, saw he had been out in the hallway for 15 minutes, so he decided to come in. Elizabeth smiled when she saw him

. "-Told you he would come in, in a matter of seconds, Liz said with a smile"

Kerry had to admit it was pretty amazing. She knew the exact moment Lucky would walk in the room. Liz had told her about the special connection she was feeling with Lucky. How she always knew what he was thinking, feeling, wanting. Lucky gave the can to Kerry and sat back on the chair. "He sure don't talk much" Kerry thought. Liz was lucky to have him because, as cute as he was, another girl would've snatched him right of the bat, she would've.

A lot of people came to see Elizabeth that day, and Kerry stayed with them until visiting hours were over. Liz asked her where she was staying and when Kerry said a motel, Liz told he she could stay at their house. Kerry said she didn't want to be any troubles, but Liz insisted. Kerry finally accepted and she left with Lucky a little after 9. Lucky kissed his wife good-night, kissed his kids, and went home.

On the way to the house, Kerry talked to him about her friendship with Lizzie, and how she was before she came to Port Charles. Lucky was listening, smiling. He wanted to know everything there was to know about Elizabeth. Kerry was looking at him drive and thought for the 100th time that day that Elizabeth really was Lucky to have a man like him. He was handsome, caring, funny, from what Liz had told her anyway, because he didn't talk much.

Lucky didn't know what to say to Kerry. What to talk about? Elizabeth probably already told her every single detail of their life together, what was left to say?

"-So, he finally said, are you married?

-Nope, still looking for Mister Right. I'm in school though.

-Oh yeah? University?

-Yeah. I'm majoring in computer sciencee

-Really? He said, looking at her, me tooo!

-That's great! You have a computer at hhome? Maybe I could show you the project I'm working on

-Sure! And I'll show you mine. Freshmaan?

-Yep, just finished.

-This is amazing"

They started to talk about computers and Kerry finally see what Elizabeth was telling her. He was a passionate, putting devotion in everything he did. He was talking about the kind of computer he had, and she was listening to him. That was wrong! Way wrong! She could see herself falling heads over heels in love with her best friend's husband! She was attracted to him like she never was to a man before. They had the same interests, the same passions: Computers.

He showed her the house and where she would be sleeping. In Audrey's room. Sarah's old room and the guest room had been transformed into the nurseries, but Elizabeth didn't want to touch her grandmother's room until the children were old enough for it to become their play room.

They stayed up half the night, talking about electronics. When he told her good-night, Kerry wanted to ask him if he wanted to come in her room, but then thought of Elizabeth. She wouldn't hit on her husband. Elizabeth did crazy things back in Connecticut, some of them were unthinkable, but one thing she never did was try to steal Kerry's boyfriend. So Kerry wouldn't do that to her, not even for one night. She was sure Lucky would say no anyway. He was living and breathing for Lizzie and it showed.

Lucky knew Kerry wanted to kiss him good night. Her looks her saying she wanted more than a kiss too. He was lying his in bed, looking at the ceiling, wondering what he had that was so special? Why every girl he met wanted to take him away from Elizabeth? First Marysa, then Sarah, and now Kerry. With Marysa, all he did was help her with her Sociology class. He just danced with Sarah when she was alone and he spent hours talking computer with Kerry so what was the big deal? He knew he wasn't Quasimodo, but he wasn't handsome either. Maybe they sent that never, in a million years, he would hurt a woman? But they had to know that never in a million years he would leave Elizabeth either.
