MISCELLANEOUS NEWS STORIES |
December, 16th 2002 Mega dittos to “Greg from Orlando”! Apparently a liberal managed to fly under the radar of El-Tubbo’s screeners on a recent broadcast of the Rush Limbaugh show. Greg called it like it is, as he pointed out the fact that both Rush and Dubya are draft-dogging chicken hawks. |
December, 18th 2002 Propaganda, propaganda, and more propaganda The Bushies have been brainstorming and they have come to the conclusion that spreading propaganda across the world would really help the war on terrorism. You can read the New York Times article here. Syndicated columnist Molly Ivins points out the fact that this is not the first time the Bush administration has attempted to do this. Who remembers the short lived Office of Strategic Influence? In related propaganda news the FBI’s Awareness of National Security Issues and Response (ANSIR) has issued a warning which states that a anti-war group called “Every Day a Circle Day” is calling for a week of attacks on arms manufacturers like Boeing and Lockheed Martin. The problem is no other anti-war groups have ever heard of “Every Day a Circle Day”. |
January 15th 2003 Kick The Bastards Out! Law Professor Francis A. Boyle is trying to get a member of the House of Representatives to sponsor articles of impeachment against George W Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, and John Ashcroft. However he needs our help; please contact your local representative immediately. Bush and company are plotting an aggressive pre-emptive war on Iraq and are in the process of destroying our civil liberties, turning the USA into a police state. Now is the time for action. Click on the link above. |
January 18th 2003 It’s the oil stupid The war pigs in Washington will tell you that the coming, inevitable war in Iraq is about preventing a mad man from using chemical and nuclear weapons against his enemies and that its about liberating the people of Iraq from brutal tyranny. Unfortunately neither of these reasons have much to do with Dubya and company’s latest military adventure. Read this article from the Independent’s Robert Fisk (who has just been named Guerrilla of the year by Guerrilla News Network). |
December 30th 2002 Dubya’s dad loves Saddam Did you ever wonder where Saddam got all of those weapons of mass destruction that he used on the Iranians and the Kurds back in the eighties? He got them from us, the good ol’ US of A! That’s right folks, the elder (and wiser?) George Bush and his good pal Ronald (where am I mommy?)Reagan and Donald (let’s get ready to rumble) Rumsfeld hooked up their friend Saddam (I didn't do it) Hussein with all sorts of nasty weapons. |
Understanding Oil by System Of A Down’s Serj Tankian This essay was written by Serj shortly after 9/11 and posted on their official site. This pissed off Sony so they quickly removed it. You can read the original essay on this SOAD fan site. |
February 20th 2003 First you get the oil, then you get the power, then you get the women! Yes,The war on Iraq is about more than oil...its about the power that comes from domination of the region and its oil sources. |
March 19th 2003 A Response to Bush’s March 17th call to arms by Stephen Zunes of the Foreign Policy in Focus Project. |
April 4th 2003 Anti-War Music I should have probably added this entry weeks ago, but I haven’t had much time to update this site. Sorry. The Beastie Boys have an anti-war download at their site called “In a World Gone Mad” and Ex-Rage Against the Machine vocalist Zach de la Rocha and DJ Shadow have put out an anti-war song called “March of Death” which is available at marchofdeath.com. You can also check out the video (directed by Michael Moore) for System of a Down’s song “Boom!” on their web page. In related news Shepard Fairey (Obey Giant) has an anti-war/Bush poster available on his website. |
April 9th 2003 How neocons conquered Washington -- and launched a war This is an interesting article that takes looks at the right wing extremists neocons working under Bush and offers some background on the guys who have lead us into an unprovoked, unjustified war. This article does briefly discredit the war for oil theory, which I support (see links below), however it still offers some intriguing facts about people like Dick Cheney, deputy secretary of defense Paul Wolfowitz, and Richard “prince of darkness” Perle and their extremist agenda. (note: Because this story is on salon.com you need to get a free day pass.) |

April 26th 2003 Will the Bush Regime Plant Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq? It’s been a month since US forces invaded Iraq and there is still no sign of weapons of mass destruction (WMD’S). The pressure is building on Bush and Blair to find these weapons to justify the invasion. Is it possible that if no WMD’S are located in Iraq that Britain and the US may decide to plant them in the country? Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS), a group consisting mainly of ex-CIA analysts, describes how the US has planted evidence to justify military strikes since the 1950’s. |
May 1st 2003 The Secrets of September 11 Why doesn’t Bush’s junta want us to know what’s in a 9/11 report by Democratic Sen. Bob Graham and Republican Rep. Porter Goss and why are they reclassifying information in the report that’s already been made public? Do the 2004 elections have anything to do with it? |
May 8th 2003 The Media Monopoly, The FCC, and you The corporate control of the media here in the United States has been getting worse every day as companies are buying each other up and are beginning to create huge multibillion dollar monopolies. During “The Gulf War, Episode II” the media showed an obvious pro-war slant with their “in-bedded” reporters while the newscasters and commentators here at home labeled dissenters and war protesters as anti-America Sadam sympathizers. Clear Channel, a right wing radio company, has been organizing pro-war rallies across the country and censoring musicians who speak out against the war. This is the same company that created a list of “questionable” songs they didn’t want to hear on their twelve-thousand radio stations after 9/11. Now things are about to get worse as the head of the FCC, Colin Powell’s son Michael, tosses the FCC’s system of checks and balances out the window. It’s Rupert Murdoch's (FOX/News Corp.) wet dream come true. |
November 11th 2003 Who’s the dumb one now, eh? Sandy Smith Madsen, a doctoral student at Emory University, who lived in Canada explains why the Canadian health care system is superior to the disease industry we have here in the good ol’ U.S. of A.. |
