US Federation of Batto Do

Purpose of the Federation
To promote training and study of the Japanese sword arts, specifically practical battlefield sword arts referred to as Batto-Jutsu, and a method of holding competition between different styles and goups.

The model of the Federation is the Zen Nihon Batto Do Renmei currently in operation in Japan.

The Federation is open to any any individual, group or dojo that is committed to supporting the Federation and its ideals and goals. Dojos must have four or more members.

Admission to the Federation is done by completing the application form and submitting it to the Federation Membership Committee.  The committee will review all applications and decide whether admission if possible or not.

Admission Committee will retain the right to review all memberships and determine the need for revoking at any time.

All Federation membership fees are due the 1st day of February of each calendar year.  A late fee of $25 per dojo and $10 per individual will be assed on fees that are not received by the 1st day of March.  Failure to pay fees on time will result in review of membership by the Admission Commitee and could result in dismissal from the Federation and forfeiture of all paid fees and dues.

Dojo Membership Benefits

- Dojo can host Federation sponsored Tai Kai (Federation will supply Judges).
- Certificate of Federation membership for Dojo.
- Invitation to special Hombu seminars for Dojo Kaicho
- Training materials such as booklets and tapes.

Uniform requirements
Traditional cut white, blue, or black kendo top.  Blue, black or striped gray hakama with sword obi.  Tabi are acceptable. 
NO multi-colored uniforms that are not traditional Japanese colors or style.  Netsuke are acceptable if worn from the belt.

Sword Requirements
Japanese made or well made Chinese clones such as Cold Steel, Paul Chen, etc. 
NO stainless blades or Spanish, American wallhangers.  Must have full-length tang, preferably double pegged.  Wakizashi may be worn.  Sageo cord required.  Absolutely NO military mounted blades or metal scabbards.  Must have traditional wrapped handle and traditional wood saya.  NO broadswords or Highlander or themed swords allowed.
