Seizan Kai Toyama Ryu Batto Jutsu
Welcome to Seizan Kai Toyama Ryu Batto Jutsu.  This site is dedicated to the Mid-Western division of the U.S. Federation of Toyama Ryu Iai Do, Inc., and the U.S. Federation of Batto Do, Inc.

Toyama Ryu Batto Jutsu, the sword style of the Imperial Japanese Army, is new to this area, so I invite you to browse these pages.  Below are links to the history of Toyama Ryu, information on myself and my instructors, and the makeup of the Seizan Kai Toyama Ryu Batto Jutsu class.

Toyama Ryu Batto Jutsu is a sword style that emphasizes Tameshigiri, or test cutting with a live blade.  We feel that no matter how good you are doing kata or pre-arranged forms, the true test of your ability with a sword is how well you cut.

I openly invite students of other martial art styles and sword schools to join my class.  It is not the purpose of
Toyama Ryu to "steal away" students from other schools or dojo.  Nor do we look upon ourselves as the followers of "the one true path" of Japanese sword styles.  In that we specialize in proper and safe cutting technique, Toyama Ryu is an ideal complement to other sword styles.  If you are a member of another martial art and are interested in learning the techniques of Toyama Ryu, proper etiquette requires you to discuss this with your sensei or instructor.  I will be happy to answer any questions that may arise.

If you or your dojo are interested in learning more about
Toyama Ryu Batto Jutsu, I am available for demonstrations and seminars.
