| In spite... of this we're a savee people. We recognize those gimicks, used to seduce us; buy one get one free, 40% off, no money down, easy payment plans, etc... But, when it comes to the suffering of others we're less inclined to be, "penny wise". When it comes to the plight, of helpless children we tend to be less skeptical. Knowledge, obtained through he Educational System is no guarantee one will not be duped and freed, from our hard earned cash. " Yes, yes... we just gotta do something ! " |
| We all... want to protect children from abuse/neglect. We want to see every child grow up in a good home, with loving parents, and plenty of everything a young person needs. We have all heard the horror stories about children, suffering at the merciless hands, of a ruthless parent. We know the frightful tales of children left alone, without even basic necessities of life. Advertizers, throughout the land, have made fortunes, pulling at our heartstrings, for these poor unfortunate kids. Massive funding has been donated to children in foreign lands, victimized by war and disaster... " Someone ought to do something ! " |
| But... even the most worthy cause, noble purpose, and best intentions can be open to " exploitation ". Not every single case is severe, not every straight, dire, nor every situation eminently tragic. However, without seducing us, into believing that every case truly is, how would Promoters, Lobbyists, Politicians and Bureaucrats get us to support their platforms and curry favor with us? Only by showing the worst victims of crime can they get us to support their stance on crime. Only by showing us the most severe abuse and neglect, can they encourage us to support mandates and legislation, to get tough on parents... " Somebody get a rope ! " " Yeah that's it ! " " Let's string'em all up ! " |
| What about... the children in our own country who are needy and deserving to be free from abuse and neglect? Certainly, if we can give to those in foreign lands, we should also direct ourselves towards those, in our own country, who may be equally, if not more deserving. Within this Great Nation of ours we should protect our own from abuse/neglect. We should devote more resources -and- care more, for our own ? " Yes, someone really should do something ! " |
| Advertizers... say, "To promote the best campaign, one should display the best of the worst, to effectively seduce the masses, by every bit of sympathy and compassion, to successfully pry open those wallets". In true Capitalist fashion, the very worst of every case, is flaunted, both at home -and- abroad. If one were simply told that a child was having discipline problems, or some parents are having financial dificulties, we might say, "So what, don't we all?". This might not be enough to pry open the cookie jar. Exploitation of the worst, is a gimick, to, " give 'till it hurts ! " " Yes, yes... let's all do something ! " |
| Be cautious... of those, obsessed with righteousness, for they will commit all manner of sin... set loose great plagues upon the earth... and... justify all they have wrought, in the belief... that they have done so, for the greater good... |
