1963 THUNDERBIRD SPORTS ROADSTER
Complete Rotisserie Restoration
in progress now
March 8,
I got my transmission back from the rebuilder the other day, and my dash
came back from Just Dashes. The Tranny still needs to be cleaned up and painted
on the outside but the dash looks as good as new. Just Dashes might be a little
pricey, but they do beautiful work.
My rust proofing chemical also arrived so I took a day and got the rust proofing done.
I thoroughly coated inside the quarters, rockers and other cavaties on the car and
parts where the paint sprayer will never reach. I also did the bottom lip area
on the back of the fenders and inside the rear wheelhouse and trunk extension,
Paying particular attention to the areas around the rear wheels inside the
quarters as this is normally a high rust area.
It's ready for primer now and after that I'll spray a heavy undercoating
for sound deadening (and additional protection)in all the areas that Henry
did when he built this roadster the first time.
I'm going to Las Vegas for a few days for the NASCAR Race (go FORDS)
and then when I get back I'm putting my
Amphicar
in the World of Wheels
Car Show here in Duluth. Everyone should have an Amphicar!
This thing is a riot!! The ONLY thing that gets more attention
than an Amphicar, is 2 Amphicars! Anyway, I won't be getting much done in
the next week and a half. I should get the primer on right after I
get back at it tho, and paint shortly after. Then reassembly begins!
