Lily's First Year
September 30th, 2003 - It sounded like Lily said "Hey", but it was probably just a weird cry.
October 2nd, 2003 - Lily's umbilical cord fell off tonight. Also my belly button went back to being an innie  today.
October 3rd, 2003 - Lily's first appointment with the pediatrician. Everything looks normal. She now weighs 8 lbs 8 oz.

October 11th, 2003 - Ben and I took Lily with us to Babies'R'Us, and bought a portable crib for her. There were tons of other babies in that store, but Lily was the only one that was crying. We quickly left.
October 16th, 2003 - Lily's discovered the letter "G". Today Lily said "Guh", yesterday she said "Goo", and the day before she said "Guh".
October 17th, 2003 - Lily's second pediatrician appointment. She now weighs 9 pounds 8 ounces and her height is 22 inches. The doctor said her height and weight gain is better than average.
October 20th, 2003 - Lily is one month old today.
October 25th, 2003 - I'll give a description of the way Lily is right now. She's a good baby. She sleeps during most of the night, and is awake almost all day. If she sleeps during the day it's about 15 minutes every 2 hours. At night she has feedings lasting about 15 - 45 minutes, then sleeps for an hour or more after eating. She enjoys the tub bath, if the water is warm enough. Sometime's she goes into "monster mode", where she will cry non-stop for an hour or two, for no apparent reason. She's starting to be able to support her head a little bit. When I hold her to burp her, she likes to lift her head off of me. The hair she was born with is thinning, as her permanent hair is beginning to grow in. She's outgrown the newborn diapers, and now uses the next size. She makes sounds other than crying, such as coos, grunts, and squeaks. She also smiles a lot more than she did earlier.
October 27th, 2003 - Lily can scoot on her back to different parts of the crib. If I put her on the left side of the crib to sleep, when I look again, she can be on the right side. She can't roll over onto her stomach yet though.
November 3rd, 2003 - Lily picked up and held a toy for the first time today. It happened twice.
November 7th, 2003 - Today Lily's weight is 10 pounds 10 ounces and her height is 22.5 inches. She loves the mobile on her portable crib, and she seems fascinated by it when we spin it. She also loves the color blue, and stares at anything that's bright blue.
November 10th, 2003 - Lily's first trip to the mall. She actually didn't cry much. It was much better than the previous experience of taking her to Babies R Us.
November 16th, 2003 - I said "goo" to Lily, and she copied me, saying "goo" exactly the same way, (much more clear than she ever said it before). It's the first time she ever copied anything I said.
November 20th, 2003 - Today Lily turned 2 months old. She now weighs 11 pounds 4 ounces.
November 29th, 2003 - Today we went to Knotts Berry Farm and took Lily with us. My Grandma took care of Lily most of the time, so Ben and I could go on the rides. Afterwards, we went to Marie Callenders for dinner, and Lily cried almost the whole time we were in the restaurant.
