In September 2005 we had to leave fabulous Shanghai behind and head inland. We're now living in a city called Nanjing, about a 3-hour train ride west of Shanghai. Although large by international standards (about 5 million people or so), it's quite small compared to Shanghai. We secured a lovely apartment, close enough for Darrell to walk to work, with a million dollar view of Mochou Lake. My parents call it our Chinese Central Park view.

                                 The living room/dining room area.

The den, enclosed with glass walls, so we can be on the computer, but still feel like we're part of whatever's going on in the living room. Neat!

Why we really chose this apartment! This is the view from the living room balcony.

A typical night view, complete with fireworks and crazy neon. We hear fireworks booming so often it feels like we're under attack.

The dishwasher, which has been fixed so that it no longer shocks us, and the sterilization cabinet above, for cleaning up after diseased guests.

Finding out that our new washing machine requires much less soap than the last one.

We're sure this concept for an entry-way seemed like a good idea when the landlord was building it. Sort of a zen feel. But, loose stones and concrete? Not the most practical feature of this apartment.

This naked lady carrying a basket protrudes from a wall in the master bath. Classy!
