Going into a promising year of XC, may criticized any efforts by Upper Dublin to assert itself into the top rankings. A league title and 2nd place finish at the toughest district meet in the state later, Upper Dublin stands poised ranked 2nd at the state meet, to prove the critics wrong once more. Senior leadership by Pat McLaughlin and John Mariotz, combined with the talented legs of Michael Palmisano, Matt Lorenzo, and the Reilly twins have proved to be more than enough for most of its opponents. Excellently trained, conditioned, and rested appropriately by Coaches Paul Vandegrift and Tony Giammarco, Upper Dublin has a chance to explode past any explectations and grasp what they have so deserved. Indoor Preview Another season of Upper Dublin track and field is about to start, and again, expectations are high. The distance group, enough said. Suburban One champions, District One runner-ups, State Meet medalists in XC. This group of determined runners, led by Pat McLaughlin and Mike Palmisano, will surely find themselves at the state level once again by season's end. New indoor additions to Lou Brown's 4x200 in Devin Broady, Desmen Johnson, and possibly an unknown Matt Lee will make for another interesting run at the school record, set last year. The 4x400 returns two state runners, Brian Rosenthal and Chris Melton, and will find refuge in Mark Gordon and Lou Brown to continue the succes from last year. A 4x800 state medal is within reach this year, but another DMR All-State is just as likely with all the pieces in place to improve on last year's record breakings performance. Individuals Lou Brown, Brian Rosenthal, Pat McLaughlin, and Mike Palmisano all hope to see themselves racing at Penn States in more than just relays. There is no reason to believe that the loss of Yung Buck, A.K.A. Mr.49 will hinder any efforts of this rejuvenated team. Brian Rosenthal |
