The phrase 'Sunday six-bells' is a reference (among other lyrical references to church bells) to the 6 am or 6 pm bells that toll out from a Catholic Church to let people know that it is time for the prayer - The Angelus: "the angel of the Lord declared unto Mary...." etc.
