COCONUT CREAM ( 2 OZ)

½ PART UNSWEETENED
PINEAPPLE JUICE (¼ OZ)

MELE-KOI HAWAIIAN
COCONUT SNOW (1 TSPN)

BLEND WITH CRACKED
ICE ‘TIL SLUSHY &
SERVE IN CERAMIC
COCONUT MUG

GARNISH WITH
PINEAPPLE CHUNK,
MARASCHINO CHERRY,
& MINT SPRIG


NAVY GROG(Trader Verne's FAVE!)

2 PARTS DARK RUM (1 OZ)
2 PARTS LIGHT RUM (1 OZ)
2 PARTS 86-PROOF DEMERARA RUM (1 OZ)
1 1/2 PARTS GUAVA JUICE (3/4 OZ)
1 1/2 PARTS FRESH LIME JUICE (3/4 OZ)
1 1/2 PARTS PINEAPPLE JUICE (3/4 OZ)
1 1/2 PARTS ORGEAT (ALMOND) SYRUP (3/4 OZ)
FALERNUM (1 FULL TBSP)

MIX VIOLENTLY IN SHAKER
WITH HANDFUL OF
CRACKED ICE FOR 10
SECONDS. POUR INTO DOUBLE
OLD-FASHIONED GLASS, SANS
SHAKER ICE. SERVE
WITH ICE CONE
(SHAVED ICE
PRESSED INTO PILSNER
GLASS; MAKE HOLE IN CENTER
OF ICE WITH CHOPSTICK,
INSERT STRAW IN HOLE,
INVERT GLASS AND ICE CONE
SLIDES OUT. PUT ICE CONE IN
FREEZER FOR 20 OR 30
MINUTES. THIS SHOULD BE DONE PRIOR TO
BUILDING YOUR PERFECT NAVY GROG!)

THE MAI TAI

The very exotic Mai Tai was originated
by the One and Only "Trader Vic" Bergeron.
Following is Trader Verne's
version of the legendary libation:.
4 PARTS DEMERARA RUM (2 OZ)
1 PART ORGEAT (ALMOND SYRUP) (½ OZ)
1 PART ORANGE CURACAO (½ OZ)
½ PART ROCK CANDY SYRUP (¼ OZ)
JUICE OF ONE FRESH LIME

SHAKE INGREDIENTS WITH
CRUSHED ICE & SERVE OVER
CRUSHED ICE IN LARGE, CHILLED
COLLINS GLASS
GARNISH WITH LIME SLICE, MINT
SPRIG, PINEAPPLE SPEAR, CHERRY,
COCKTAIL UMBRELLA, AND AN
ORCHID FLOWER.

Trader Verne's Tropical
   Concoctions
   
    Exotic drinks have always been a favorite of mine, especially the aromatic, and very romantic,
Navy Grog. But I offer a few quite serious words on the subject of alcohol consumption.

     Drink responsibly, and indulge in these particular drinks slowly, and with great care. Use of alcoholic beverages should be an occasional pleasure, not an ongoing liability. Limit yourself to one or two of these tropical libations; over-indulgence is not attractive, and can be detrimental to your health, and even your life.

     Please be very aware: according to the Surgeon General, women should not drink alcoholic beverages during pregnancy because of the risk of birth defects. Also, the consumption of alcoholic beverages impairs your ability to drive a car or operate machinery, and may cause health problems.

     Please, I beg you: never, EVER, drive (or even ride a bicycle!) if you have been drinking. It's deadly dangerous to you AND to others around you!
