Classroom Rules, Rewards and Consequences


Mission Statement:  It is vital that we respect each other; as a group we want a positive, cultivating environment that nurtures intellectual growth and curiosity.  This is how ideas form and true learning occurs.  –Mrs. Altenbaumer



Rules

1.          Bring all necessary supplies to class, and be on task (bell activity) when the bell rings.  Don’t be late.

2.          Respect others.  This is a learning environment, be mindful of other’s feelings and personal space.  This means no touching, hitting, vulgarity, or sarcasm (refer to class mission statement).

3.          Remember to listen before doing.  Follow directions as given.

4.          Limit your work and discussions to classroom topics as you might be called upon to present your work or conversation to the class.

5.          Always follow lab safety guidelines.

If you choose to follow the rules:

1.          Tokens (incentive chips saved for extra credit)

2.          Popcorn or Rice Krispie treats party

3.          Early dismissal

4.          Library Pass

5.          Others as suggested

If you choose to break a rule:

     Consequences are compounded weekly.

1.     Warning: this will not interrupt class; I will put your name on the board so you will know you have been warned.

2.     Last to leave when the class is dismissed.

3.     Twenty minute detention on Thursday after school.

4.     Parents/Principal contact.

Severe Disruption Clause:  No Warning, automatic detention.
