Year 5 2006
December 19th, 2005
Boston Trades: Kevin Correia, Willy Taveras, William Bergolla, 5th round amateur 2006
St. Louis Trades: Justin Morneau
Clause: If Morneau bats .260 or less in 2006 than Boston gets 750k
Commentary: 3/15/07 - Deal looked risky when I did it by losing Taveras and with Morneau's very poor year... good risk to take.

January 30th, 2006
Boston Trades: Kevin Mench, 6th round amateur pick 2006 (Whit Robbins)
St. Louis Trades: Kelly Johnson, Ryan Garko, and Mark Teahen
Commentary 7/16/07: Teahen got hot (and still is productive) enough to get me Sexson. Garko and Johnson have been more then enough compensation for Mench's hot streaks.

January 31st, 2006
Boston Trades: Benjie Molina
St. Louis Trades: Dave Krynzel, JD Closser, Richard Hidalgo, Boston's 6th round amateur 2006 (Whit Robbins)
Commentary: 3/15/07 - A bit of a dud trade. With the dud of a year Varitek had in 2006 I could have used Molina... unfortunately all of the prospects (and major leaguer) a year later seem to have busted. Whit Robbins will decide if this is an ok deal or not.
7/16/07 - Definititely not one of my finer moments. This deal just has no redeeming factors as of now.

Feb 1st, 2006

Boston Trades: Daryl Ward and Joe Mays
Arizona Trades: 6th round amateur 2006 (Eddie Degerman) and 1 million
*Trade changed June 17th to be a pick further in the round (from pick 94 to pick 98) in return I received $190,000 extra dollars*
Commentary 7/16/07 - Did this on a pure need to save money basis and even if Degerman never does anything I don't think I'll regret the trade.

Feb 8th, 2006
Boston Trades: Damaso Marte, Travis Hanson
LA Trades: Armando Benitez, Craig Wilson
Clause: Benitez must save 25 games or Boston receives 400k
Commentary - 7/16/07 - A deal that really hasn't benefited either team. Benitez has become the worst closer in baseball until he finally got traded and demoted and Marte hasn't been the great setup man he was in previous years either. Neither Wilson or Hanson has been any use at all in the majors either. Definitely useless.

Feb 8th, 2006 *Edited November 17th, 2006*
Boston Trades: Josh Barfield
St. Louis Trades: Chris Duffy, Scott Hairston, 5th round amateur 2008, 7th round amateur 2006, (George Kontos) May monthly 2006 (Kevin Frandsen)
Edit: Changed 5th round amateur 2006 to 2008.

April 10th, 2006
Boston Trades: Adrian Beltre
White Sox Trade: Justin Huber, 2nd round 2007, (Josh Smoker) 7th round 2007

June 1st, 2006
Boston Trades: Doug Davis
Rangers Trade: Asdrubal Cabrera, Matt Moses, July 2006 monthly, (Jacob McGee) 7th round 2006 (Tyler Robertson)
Commentary - 7/16/07 - As of now Cabrera has become a fantastic prospect, Moses has fizzled, and the two picks have done fantastic too. I still like Davis even though he's faltered but this deal looks a lot better for me now then it did then.

July 26th, 2006

Boston Trades: Estaban German
Seattle Trades: September 2006 monthly (Jaimie Garcia), 7th round 2006 (Desmond Jennings)

July 28th, 2006
Boston Trades
: Dan Johnson, Brandon Phillips, and Mark Teahen
St. Louis Trades: Richie Sexson, 1 million
Clause: in 2008 Boston only pays 16 million for Sexson any dollar not paid over 16 million by Chicago will be footed by St. Louis
Commentary 3/17/07 Next year I may think differently but acquiring Sexson was the reason why Boston made it to the playoffs in 2006. My team went from 10th place to 6th and it mainly did this because of the offensive power Sexson brought over. While I probably will regret this in a couple of years with Teahen and Phillips but as of now I'm ok about it...
7/16/07 - Yep... thinking differently. I sure wish I had Brandon Phillips and Mark Teahen right now. Sexson has been pretty much useless for me this year.
