Tree planting campaign where each family planted a valuable tree. A “Kantha Samithiya” formed to work towards self employment projects. October 2002 Commenced purchasing fruits produced by the villagers. A pola consisting their produce to be organised by the villagers during our monthly visits and 10% will be given by the sellers to the village Benevolent Society. November 2002 School uniforms for all school going children and tailoring done by two villagers. Cost met through the PHD fund and Rs 1,000 donated by Ms Neranjala Jayasekera, staff member. 02 females trained in fabric painting with the help of Mr Prishantha Pinto, staff member and his wife free of charge. Cost of travelling borne by Mr.Nihal Perera, staff member and Mr.Sumith Wijesinghe, staff member. Accommodation etc provided by Mr Pinto. Cost of Rs 2,500 spent by the PHD fund to purchase material. Monthly “Pola” commenced. Rs 7,500 received from Mrs Padma Sumanapala (staff member Dharshani Bandara’s friend) in Dubai, towards the cost of a roof. Donated a school table for the pre-school teacher by Mr Upali Mahanama at a cost of Rs 750. December 2002 Rs 7,500 received from Mrs S Vinitha (staff member Dharshani Bandara’s friend) in Dubai, towards the cost of a roof. January 2003 Book cupboard for the pre-school purchased by SCAD funds Rs 1,800. Two tables purchased for pre-school. Cost of Rs 1,200 borne by Mr Asiri Sirimanna, staff member. Rs 300 received from Mr Anura Rodrigo towards the project. Shop premises given free by the temple to commence self employment project. Juki machine installed at the shop premises. Rs 5,000 received from Mr Mohan Asirwathan towards purchasing the Juki Machine. Balance Rs 9,000 advanced by SCAD. Total cost of Juki machine is Rs 14,000. Electricity connection for the shop was paid for by the SCAD – Rs 9,140. SCAD also advanced Rs 1,000 to purchase materials to commence the project. New roofs to be built for Suranga Ediriweera, W A Diyonis and Nilmin Kumara. |
