Workshop Introduction Representation of the human figure has a long history. In most instances, broader audiences will tend to read 'nakedness' to be the prime and only content of artwork representing the unclothed human figure. Despite this view, the 'intention behind representation' is always close at hand and is invariably part of the artwork. The represented figure is not simply a 'documentation of what is seen'. It is a broader document that gives information about....... artist intention audience reception cultural codes anthropological need philosophical exploration histories of skill and skill technology aesthetic codes This workshop will build on the skill base of each participant. It will also expand each participant's 'reading' of the meanings behind figure drawing. "Strung" was a product of a drawing session where the short time of the model's pose became part of the artwork. In spite of the fact that the drawing is unfinished, the artist liked the content that could be read from its unfinished nature. |
