Cancun Tours |
Cancun has so much to offer. It is ideally located on the Yucatan Peninisula as a starting point to visit some of the best places in all of Mexico. Whether it's the the Mayan ruins at Chichen-Itza or Tulum, or taking the Caribbean Carnival Booze Cruise, there is a tour to satisfy almost everyones desires. |
CHICHEN-ITZA |
Chichen-Itza is the largest and most important of the Mayan ruins in the Yucatan. It was built around 495AD and was inhabited twice. The first inhabitants built what is believed to be true Maya architecture, while the second was believed influenced by the Toltec. This is a beautiful place to visit. |
XCARET |
Nature's sacred paradise, Xcaret has so much to offer. This eco-archaeological park has a wonderful sheltered bay perfect for snorkeling. Or you can check out one of the underground rivers. Also they offer the Swim with Dolphins which, I hear is amazing. |
JUNGLE TOUR |
Almost every marina in Cancun offers the Jungle tour. This takes you through the Nichupte Lagoon out to the reef at Punta Nizuc. You can choose from 2 person speed boats or on jet skis. This tour last about 2 1/2 hours and cost about $38US. Some of the tour operators are listed below. |
B.O.B |

This is the latest way to see the underwater world in Cancun. You don't have to be certified to dive in this personal submarine. Just a quick lesson and your of to some of the best reefs in the area. The tour includes a video of your trip and cost $75 US. |
CARIBBEAN CARNIVAL (BOOZE CRUISE) |
There are several different booze cruises that operate in Cancun. The one I went on was from Fat Tuesdays. It cost about $60 US and to me was worth it. As soon as you step on board they hand you a drink. The trip to Isla Mujeres takes about 45 minutes and it's party time all the way. Once you get to the island you are served a large buffet dinner. After dinner you are treated to a wonderful Caribbean dance show and games. I also recommend checking out the jewelry booths there. I found the best stuff there at the cheapest price. After the show is over it's back on the boat for the trip back to Cancun. The trip last for a total of about 5 liquor filled hours of non-stop fun. I recommend that you don't schedule anything for the next morning because when you wake up you'll swear you were still on the boat. |
El Galeon del Captain Hook |
They have three different tours. First the Day Cruise which includes a cruise aboard a pirate ship to Isla Mujeres, Continental breakfast, open bar, snorkeling, lunch buffet and more. Cost is $45US. Second , the Evening Dinner Cruise which offers dinner, a cruise of the bay, dancing, games and more. Watch out for other pirates. Cost is $66US for lobster and $55US for steak. And last but not least the Party Pirate Cruise. This is only on Friday and Saturday night, with open bar and lots of dancing. Cost is $55US. Located at the Playa Linda Dock. |
Dolphin Discovery |
A truely wonderful experience. You board a boat which takes you over to Isla Mujeres. Then into the water for 1 1/2 hours of fun with the dolphins. You get to interact with the dolphins up close and personal. Cost is $119US and is totally worth it. Size of each tour is limited and resevations are recommended in advance. If you want to book it before you come to Cancun visit www.dolphindiscovery.com |
Tulum |
Tulum is a wonderful Mayan city that is located in the coast. It is the only Mayan city known that has walls built around it. The ruins themself, although not as large as Chichen Itza, are very intresting. Another thing that is great about visiting Tulum is the view from atop the cliffs. It is one of the best views of the Caribbean Sea in all the Riviera Maya. Tours are usually combined with a trip to Xel-Ha in the afternoon. |
Xel-Ha |
This is the largest natural aquarium in the area if not in the world. Here you will find all kinds of marine life from large parrotfish, tuna, stingrays and even baracuda as weel as many other native fish and wildlife. They also have some nice cenotes to snorkel in as well as rubber tubes to float down one of the rivers that feeds into the Caribbean. There is also a dolphin swim program here which runs $55US for a 30 min. session. You can combine this with the Tulum tour or spend a whole day here. |
Cancun Queen |
The Cancun Queen is a paddlewheeler that cruises thru the mangroves lining the Nichupte Lagoon. Dinner is served and is followed by dancing to live band music on the top deck. At AquaWorld. |
Sub See Explorer |
This is a great tour if you prefer not to get wet. It is a submarine-like boat with large glass windows built into the sides for underwater viewing of fish, coral and many other local marine life. |
