In Playacar there are 4 RIU properties. I was fortunate to stay at the RIU Palace and did visit the other 3, Yucatan, Tequila and Playacar. The RIU resorts are some of the nicest properies in Playacar and are very well maintained and service at all is very good. To see what the resorts look like check out my RIU Photo Page.
RIU Palace - This place is simply awesome. From the lobby to the beach it has to be one of the nicest resorts in Playacar. The staff there is excellent, willing to take care of your every need at a moments notice. The food at all the restaurants is very good. Some of the best food that I personally have ever tasted in my life. My personal favorite were the restaurants closer to the beach El Patio and La Traviata. The bartenders are awesome and make some of the best drinks that you can emagine. Make sure to visit Miriam and Sylvario in the lobby bar. They are the best plus the lobby bar is definatly the prettiest one on the property. The rooms are very comfortable. There are 2 double beds pushed together to make for one very large bed. There is a sunken area with a loveseat, coffee table, TV and dresser. There is also a mini-bar, refridgerator which they stocked mine everyday. It has 4 types of liquors and the fridge has Dos X, Pepsi, 7up as well as water and other soft drinks. The beach at the Palace is wonderful. You can lay out on the beach or relax under one of the many palm trees. There is also an area with hammocks for an afternoon siesta. The Palace also has a nice marina which you can get snorkeling gear, kayaks, catamarans, windsurfers for no extra charge. For an extra fee they offer a snorkeing tour($25), several different scuba dives and jet-skis($40 for 20 min or $50 for 1/2 hour). The Palace also has a few theme nights. The few that I experience were great. There was the Fire Show which was very neat. there was also a 70's night and a Mayan night. Also on Tuesday and Saturday night there was a market set up in the court yard. They had all different types of artist from ones that do the spray paint pictures to people who hand paint tiles. It's a very good time to buy some souvieners if you don't make it into town. All around this is the best resort that I personally have ever stayed in. I would definatly rate it a 10.
RIU Yucatan - The thing I remeber most about the Yucatan is the beautiful landscaping. It is very, very beautiful. If your walking down the paths look for some very unusual animals. I'm not sure of their name but the look very neat. The beach at the Yucatan is just as nice as the Palace except it might be a little more crowned because this is were most of the guest come from the Tequila to lay out. The Yucatan also has a small shopping area located at the front of the resort. There is an internet place were you can rent a computer to check email(cost was 80 pesos per hour). There is also a massage parlor as well as a couple of shops to buy souviniers from. The Yucatan also boasts a night club. Not quit as big as the on at the Tequila, but still a very nice place to dance the night away.
RIU Tequila - The Tequila is not located on the beach but don't let this change your mind about staying here. This resort is very beautiful. They have an awesome staff and the grounds are very well maintained. There is a shuttle that will take you over to the beach at the Yucatan and drop you off. The rooms at the Tequila are almost as nice as the ones at the Palace. Very nice and very comfortable. The pool at the Tequila is huge and very pretty. I didn't have a chance to eat at any of the restaurants at the Tequila but was told that it was very good and above standard. The Tequila also has a night club which seems to be hopping every night that I went there. They play great dance music to keep you going and the bartenders will treat you very good.
RIU Playacar - The newest of the RIU resorts in Playacar. I didn't spend much time at ths resort when we were there but what I saw I did like. It has a very impressive beach, like all the other Riu's. The pool was very nice and the bartenders there seemed very good. The grounds are nice and each building is painted in traditional Mexican bright colors. |
