Step 2--Rehearse-- Here is where I will have all the students then get up and line up outside in the hall. We will all walk in one by one, grab the folder that has their name on it, go back to sit down. They will then take out papers, put homework in , and then return folders back. Then they will need to go sit down back in their desk. If I see that everyone does it correctly we will move on, if not we will do it again. I will also have them do it some more time through the week.
Step 3-- Reinforce-- If I see through the first two weeks of school that they are doing the routine correct, I will make sure that I will praise with words how well they are doing. If I see a student or students are forgetting the procedure, I will re-teach the correct procedure. Then the whole class will go through it again. B. Bell Work Step 1--Explain-- After the students turn back their folders, they will need to start the bell work that will be on the overhead. There will be bell work everyday when coming to class. I will give only 5 minutes to do bell work, after the bell has rung (Bell work will not be that challenging so don’t worry that five minutes are not going to be enough). So I will demonstrate that after bringing my folder back, quietly I will go back to my desk and get a sheet of paper and start working on the bell work. When I am done I will sit quietly looking at the teacher, so I will show to her that I am ready to move on. Step 2--Rehearse-- I will then have the students get up and pretend to bring back their folders. They will then quietly return to their seats, and start working on their bell work. I will have them look at me when done. When they are all done I will see if they did the procedure correctly, and if they did then great, but if they all weren’t quiet, and did the procedure right we will do it again. We will keep doing the procedure until it is done correctly. Step 3--Reinforce-- I will be looking to see if they understand and learn the procedure through the week. If so I will tell them they are doing a great job. If I see that some students may have forgotten the routine I will then go over it. And as a class we will practice the procedure again. C. Leaving the classroom Step 1--Explain-- I will let the students know that I dismiss the class not the bell. So I will give the class like a two minute warning before we line up. Then when I see that all of their belongings are put up and they are ready to go, I will call them by groups or rows to go line up. When they are in line they are to be quiet. If they are not then we will all go back and sit down. Then we will start all over. Therefore, I will demonstrate the correct way to get ready to leave. I will sit at a desk with papers around me. When I hear two minutes, I will start putting my things together. When I’m done I will sit there and wait to be called on to go line up. Then I will WALK over to the door QUIETLY and stand there until class has been dismissed. Step 2--Rehearse-- I will have the students pretend like they are working. I will call out two minutes, and let them get their belongings together, and sit there quietly until I call on them. They will then go line up and I will dismiss. I will see if they all rehearsed it correctly. If so great, if not we will run through it again, until it all is done right. Step 3--Reinforce-- I will see if through the week if they have rehearsed the procedure correctly, if so I will let them know they are doing a great job. I will maybe give them something little if all the procedures have been going right. If they are not doing it right I will re-teach the procedure, and they will rehearse it until it is done right. Ø I will also let them know that there are other procedures and we will come to them when they get there (make-up work, tests, sing the bathroom, getting a detention, when to sharpen their pencil, etc.). Dismissing the Class: Ø When there is about five minutes remaining to the class I will say an statement about how exited I am about this year. Ø Then I will tell them that now is another time we will rehears the procedure of leaving the classroom. |
