Blue Vervain (Verbena hastata)
Robust, usually clumped 2-4'
perennial of roads, pastures, and drier marshes. Both the common and botanical
names mean "sacred bough", referring to ceremonial uses of a related species by
Greeks and Romans.
Filbert capping one of the 500 white pines planted last Spring.
Hopefully, the deer won't find those little buds
