| Hoards of screaming fans rallied to “Leila! Leila! Leila!” over-powering any other cheer supporting the other teams. During warm up, a huge army of paparazzi and fans gathered around the area where she was doing her routine stretching. Photographers use up rolls of film on her alone and fans would step on each others toes just to get a better view. A smile, a wink and a wave from Leila drove the fans crazy. It’s as if she was actress or a President. When Leila sealed the victory against Korea with a cross-court powerful spike, it brought the house down. And as predicted, Leila once again won the Most Popular Player Award for the World Grand Prix 2004. | In the 2004/2005 edition of the Brazilian indoor volleyball circuit Superliga, Leila played for the team from Rio de Janeiro, Rexona-Ades. Her team won the 1st runner up title for the 2004/2005 Superliga season. Leila herself is ranked #10 Best Scorer, #3 Best Attacker and #2 Best Defender. Her team Rexona-Ades is ranked #1 Best Attacking, Best Defense, Best Receiving and Best Setting Team. A three time Olympic athlete and a two time Olympic bronze medallist, she has been considered the complete player, receiving numerous awards and recognitions. What makes her the perfect role model is her unbending will to win every game, the intelligence she projects in handling situations, and her effective strategies on court. |

| Currently, Leila Barros is playing in the beach volleyball circuit. She is presently competing in the world famous Swatch-FIVB World Tour, together with her partner, Ana Paula. Her current partnership is only 4 months old, yet they managed to rank their team as part of the top ten (10) teams in the world (#10). Leila is eyeing in qualifying for the Beijing 2008 Olympics in beach volleyball. |
