Here are some of the things Troop #1737 has done or
we have been working on as a troop this past year
.
Many, if not all of our moms participate
at every group meeting or field trip.
We are very lucky to have such caring and giving moms.
(We also have many dad's who help out in MANY ways)

Girl Scout Law

I will do my best:
to be honest and fair,
friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring,
courageous and strong, and
responsible for what I say and do,

and to:

respect myself and others,
respect authority,
use resources wisely,
make the world a better place, and
be a sister to every Girl Scout.

Rededication Ceremony
Girls rededicate themselves to a new year of Girl Scouts by doing a candle light ceremony and reciting the Girl Scout promise and law.
(Girls received a candle light ceremony patch)

Hay Ride (field trip)
We took a Hay Ride through a small plot of a farmers property, the tree's and trails were decorated with spooky things. We bought pumpkins and had a great time.

Sewing a Carry Pouchsew.jpg (29600 bytes)

(Girls received a Sew Ez patch for this)

Home Depot (field trip)
Our troop went to Home Depot and learned how to put together a trivet. They hammered and glued the pieces supplied for free by Home Depot.

Caring & Sharingshare2.jpg (20610 bytes)
The girls took turns roll playing situations such as: What would you do if a friend at school forgot her lunch?, What would you do if some one at school were being teased?. The girls then paired up in two's, they were to look at the girl in front of her and write down 6 things about that girl and herself that were different, and 6 things that were alike. We talked about the differences and if it mattered at all.
(Girls earned a Caring & Sharing Try-It)

Food Shelf (field trip)
The girls collected non perishable food from their families and brought them to a local food shelf which they then toured to see "where the food goes" when it's donated and why there was a need.

Sewing Sit-A-Pons
The girls sewed stuffed and sewed some more. We used a green denim material for this project. Green was chosen because they would be bridging to juniors this year and green is the color of juniors. The girls stitched their name or initials onto the sit-a-pons and painted their troop number and name as well with florescent paint.
(Girls earned a Stitch it Try-It)

Daisy-Brownie Smile Day/Thinking Day (event)
Girls gathered at a local school for this event. Thinking day and girl sports basics were the themes. Girls traveled through out the day going to different stations learning about other countries and about sports.
