Before you know it, the drive is over and we're hiking in to the campsite.  This beautiful camp is owned by the Greater New York Councils and is only minutes from the historic Palisades Trail.  Cross "Spitting Bridge,"  climb up the stone tower, decend the palisades, skip stones in the Hudson River... but be prepared to scale back up, some 52 stories high.
Patrol Cooking and tent camping gives everyone an opportunity to earn advancement credit.  Practice for your Totin' Chip, and get your 5-mile map and compass hike for 2nd class.
New scouts will get plenty of opportunity to earn outdoor requirements for Tenderfoot.
This camp has a trading post with snacks, sodas, and patches.  Alpine patches are about $5.00 each.  And while the Troop will be presenting a patch to each boy at the next Court of Honor, some boys like to purchase duplicates for collecting and trading.
