Troy Russel sings and plays guitar, performing "roots-Americana" music, covering a variety of styles including country, folk, blues, gospel, protest, and storytelling. In addition to solo performances, Troy is sometimes accompanied by stand-in musicians. Troy is carrying on the American folk singer's tradition of taking old time songs and rearranging them to reflect his personal style and modern American culture. "Sitting On Top Of The World", "Worried Man Blues", "Step It Up And Go", "Salty Dog", "Amazing Grace", and "Sinner Man" are a few of the classics Troy performs along with cover songs by such great American artists as: Jimmie Rodgers, Woody Guthrie, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, and Leonard Cohen. Troy also composes and performs orginal compositions and recorded "Told My Commander" for his first CD Blowin' Down the Road. Troy Russel hosts an ecclectic open mic at Anodyne Coffeehouse in Minneapolis the 1st Friday every month. Troy currently has a new CD project in the works. |
